Leaked prices for Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal give it a supposed price in the region of $200, far from the $80 price point previously touted.
Three Swedish retailers have begun listing the device at 1,499 krona, some $200 in real money. Swedish prices are likely to be somewhat higher than prices elsewhere, but not 150% higher, so if correct this represents something of an upset.
Previous estimates of the final price were $80 or less, certainly an easy sell, but immediate doubts have been raised about the controller succeeding at a price equivalent to that of a full console.

Apparently, the PlayStation Move is priced at $60. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/pojomofo/05-11-10move.jpg
So, with the PlayStation Eye at $40, that means $100 for just one player. $160 for two, $220 for three and $280 for four.
But there's also the famous Move "sub-controller" hastily and/or lazily developed to ape the Wii's nunchuk, which, assuming a price point of $20, would give us a total of $120 for just one player, $200 for two, $280 for three and, finally, $360 for four simultaneous players.
So there you have it. The next-gen motion tracking con is on. Although I think nothing tops Nintendo's $100 "balance board", or the $25 MotionPlus scam among scams.
OK, I checked out other Xbox accessories. The standard controller goes for ~$60, against the US's $50, and the Play & Charge Kit is at ~$25, against the US's $20.
So I assume Natal's American price point might be $170, or even $160.
80 seemed a little cheap, but 200 is a little high, I wouldnt mind dropping 100-150 on the cam, as to buy the equal for a pc cost exactly 90 on newegg.
It's just speculation:

Absolutely, 126% unsurprising and I say this as a 360 owner.
Pure speculation:
http://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/statuses/14178248893
It might just be a placeholder price. They do this from time to time here in Sweden.
Fuck. I really wanted my Natal at home, but given the facts, it may be better to wait a bit longer. You better play your card well M$ or you'll be losing another follower here.
"1,499 krona, some $200 in real money"
Oh you, Artefact ^_^
That's not totally true, it's only a rumor and some people say that it can be a xbox + natal pack.
By other hand with one Natal can play a lot of people, but if the price is 200$ only the sensors bar (with no games) is so much expensive.
While didn't see a good game with that control I never buy it, instead the PS3 lollipop that look very interesting.
YOU RRoD 360 BETA TESTERS FAGS SURE GOT TOLD.
it's not 200$ natal, it's A BUNDLE XBOX + NATAL, probably a slim version too.
It's so funny, some random Swedish site puts up a price and suddenly it's good enough to be posted as news. Tl;dr: Too many rumors, not enough fact checking.
10sek ~ €1 and if we are to go by the usual $1 = €1 I'd rather think that it'd be around $150 instead :/
I expected this shit to cost that much since the day of release.
What, you think they'd pass on the opportunity to get lots of cash from children and naive customers? Who wouldn't want to be able to "be" in the game as a badly motion-tracked transluscent figure?
Also, I find it funny that Xbox fanboys are already hailing Natal like it's a gift from God himself, saying it's the ultimate piece of hardware and is better than any other motion-sensing device around even though we've only seen like 4 real gameplay videos which featured ~10 seconds footage of a game of bouncing red balls... how exciting, it's like most of the Wii's shovelware, and 2 or 3 mocked up promotionals, one of which contained Pete Molyneux's lies.
doesn't no one see that the pic is hilarious? some father plays a eroge in front of his family. o.O is this the future?
*Petrified*
All these Natal article pics make me lol
It is going to be a fail. It'll probably spawn something nice, but Natal is fail.
Is the krona not real money??
Well we can wait, if the reviews are good then i'll buy, for now, no.
The Playstation Move bundle, which is the controller, the camera, and a game is less than $100. If Natal was $150 than that would just be nonsensical.
i get the impression the staff at sankakucomplex really, really hate the 360.
When I first looked at the picture I was like 'oh random promotional photo' and then I looked at the screen XD
Sometimes you gotta pay to play....
Sometimes you gotta pay to live...
Sometimes you gotta play to live...
Sometimes you gotta live to play...
Sometimes you gotta live to pay...
You could buy a console for $200.
Or, you can go to the dollar store and get 200 things.
200!!
In Canada we could only get 174 things cuz of the stupid 15% tax...
In Canada it would cost more?
Or only 5% if you live in the right parts.
... you Albertans and your 0% PST...
And now, BC's getting HST. Stupid Liberal provincial government.
"but not 150% higher"
Iam not swedish, but I still live in europe. And I have more than enough experience with prices that are even 200% than direct conversion from dolars.
Main reason is usual 1$ = 1€ conversion rate for electronics. It can also be inflated by taxes or aditional service forced by law. So I wouldnt take those things even as "educated" guess.
Ouch. No thanks then, I think i'd just stick to joystick and my left hand when it comes to physically interactive eroge..
Damn straight..!
And the best part is, it's free!!!
So is your left hand for... or is the joystick your... o.o
Clearly the target demographic for this thing isn't the average gamers, but rather the health nuts (and now eroge otaku). I know several places like gyms and hospitals that use the Wii for health-related reasons, and Microsoft (and Sony) definitely wants in on some of that previously-untapped market, but regardless of how much Natal is-- whether it's $80 or $200-- from a business standpoint, people are still gonna get Wiis over Natal just because they're cheaper and they get the job done.
This thing just reeks of a flop despite how neat the technology might be.
Logic has been broken. Something that was as bad as it could possibly be has become worse...
Wait a little longer. Maybe it comes with its own set of four lights, if you get what I mean, lol.
everybody can take their motion control products on go shove it. i like my couch i like my controller it's all you need.
Don't you want a fully functional eroge controller doll? ^_^
Yea,but the eroge games won't be released in america ,osy likely.
well, the PS3 is region free
but 360 eroge, not so much
couches are overrated, i play in my underwear 2 feet away from the screen wrapped up in a blanket.
No doubt xbox fanboys are eager to throw their money at Microsoft to get their latest fix.
epic picture. whole family gathers around to watch daddy grope on a girl in hentai game.
We saw before that people in 3rd world countries won't have enough space to use it anyways.
Let it be high priced and require the giant space. Fuck off to poor people living in tin cans..
i know right its ridicules........... and on that note i need to go buy nier with all the dlc its completely different from 360 fanboys of course
200 bucks for a better motion tracking webcam? Are they nuts? O_O
Even though Video game companies make more money from software sales, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft sells these at a high price the way Apple does.
I'm a PS3 guy. I already have a PlayStation eye, so the PlayStation Move won't cost me much. For a single controller set, it will probably cost $60 and come with some kind of Wii sports type software.
Lol @ Nin
Fail troll is fail. Either that or you're just a dork.
Jeedwi, you could try a wireless sensor bar. All the bar does is emit IR, just like what your candles do. Useful if you want to use your Wii Remote on a computer or a Wii, and you can adjust distance. My computer is connected to my TV, so I just keep the bar near the sofa. Lets me play Wii games on my computer from the other side of the room just fine. Hell, I've played DS/Crysis/etc using a Wii Remote for shits and giggles.
@Nin
You can connect a computer to a "large screen"
Microsoft is obviously going to subsidize Natal (like they did with everything). So expect it to be cheaper.
wuuttt??? begun listing the device at 1,499 krona, some $200 in REAL money?! O_o Artefact hates swedes or something? ahahaha
What suprises me more is that they don't sell it higher... you know bcause its "revolutionary" someone would expect a price like... i dont know... "FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE U.S. DOLLARS"
Marketing can go a long way at times. Just look at the Wiimote. There are people who think it's advanced and whatever nonsense. You could easily use the silly thing on a PC for <$2 if you don't already have the hardware. Even the Wii's low, last generation specs make it easy to emulate.
http://i43.tinypic.com/241rxu1.jpg
I'm not too surprised. If it's as "revolutionary" as they're trying to make it seem, it's going to have a "revolutionary price tag" as well. But whatever. We won't know until it actually releases.
Haha goddamn tinypic resized the image. Not that it matters, but whatever:
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/3500/emuj.jpg
Gotta pay my respects the developers though, it's amusing to think how many people could be waving Wiimotes around in front of their PC.
Ma cat chewed through my sensor bar thin as paper cord. Now I'm forced to use two lit candles for the wii mote to track. Doesn't seem too high tech to me. ^_^
Naturally, you don't want to use a Wii Remote in front of your PC. You need a little bit of distance to use it effectively and a large screen is nice when you're at 2-3 meters distance.
By the way, I'm a little surprised at your notion that the Wii Remote is apparently not so advanced. It's not hi-tech, but also not simple enough to be easily "plagiarized" for use on a PC. It's definitely a good quality product which I don't see being used on a PC anytime soon.
Or perhaps ignore what could possibly be a bad misconception by a misleading rumor.
as an Xbox fanboy i gotta say no sale here. Screw this.
xbox fanboy =/= microsoft fanboy
Microsoft owns Apple PERIOD. It also owns sony and nintendo, obviously.
in hardware failure rate, it sure does own them
IF, and I mean only IF this thing is as awesome as it was marketed, then it worth every dollar. But we know that thing gonna suck ass in reality.
I smell a jealous rat
