The top spot went to Go! Go! Maniac with 25,592 and the number 2 spot to Listen!! with 24,026.
Some would say this is as much an indictment of Oricon’s rankings as it is an affirmation of K-ON!’s huge popularity.

I really don't like the way Yui sings the OP song, but I think the reason a lot of people come to like the song is because the underlying melody and rhythm is catchy, once they somehow get used to the annoying high pitched vocals.

Already got used to Go Go Maniac!, and even if it sticky, its not as charming as the 1S ED.
GO! GO! MANIAC is a fun song, very catchy and fits perfectly with the overall theme of the show: to be in band with friends and have fun. It also has a more unique style compared to many other anime songs.
Listen!! is a decent song, but I find it hard to appreciate due to the more classic rock style they've chosen for it. I love their new ED outfits, though. Fit them much better than the Gothic Lolita style in the first season's ED. Compared to those, even the clothes they wore at the school festival were better.
"Go! Go! Maniac" - I wonder that they even released it. But if otakus can buy EndlessEight DVDs...you can sell anything to them.

I can attest to the fact that Go! Go! Maniac is a song that requires time to grow on you.
At first, I honestly didn't like the song at all, but after some time, it really grew on me a lot and I can't seem to get the rhythm out of my head...
Just like Code Geass R2's World End, some songs just take time to grab you.
Listen is has a lot of poetric thing such as metaphor, mood and tone than Go! Go! Maniac.

After listening to the new Opening and ending songs for a while, they grow on you a bit, cuz at first I disliked both of them, but eventually I started to like them, but they are nowhere near as good as the opening and closing to the first season. those are really good.

I don't understand why people prefer Go! Go! Maniac. That song is probably the worst K-ON song IMO.

No I agree with you;I personally felt that Tsumugi's and Mio's versions of "LET'S GO!" and though I forget the nameAzu's ,-side from her single were the best the songs to sprout from the series.

go go maniac is very noisy and chaotic, but i must say, it has a nice and sophisticated music arrangement

During the first season I stopped watching it after episode one since I didn't find it that entertaining (I only liked the ED and the un~tan part from that episode). Then I decided to read the manga 2 or 3 weeks later and I completely fell in love with the series and picked up the anime again (which got much better after the first ep IMO).
I listened to the whole song just now, and I still hate it. Honestly I don't hate Yui, but this is probably the worst song she sung so far.

It's pretty bad how a bunch of otaku who love an extremely popular series will go out and buy ten thousand copies of whatever they can find even remotely related to the series they like, and the result can be average (or below average) songs getting far higher sales than great songs in lesser known series.
I personally like Go Go Maniac as much if not more than Cagayake Girls and Dont Say Lazy.

The problem with her 2nd season ED goth costume is that it makes her look OLD.
