Cheekiest MMO Game Ever?

Japanese web MMO sim “Destare” has earnt itself notoriety for some unusually cheeky plagiarism – rather than go the trouble of making their own backdrops, the designers opted to sneakily take screenshots of Oblivion and use those in the hopes nobody would notice.
The comparison was posted to the game’s forums but as yet no response from the publishers has been heard.
A cheap looking PV:
The game’s only other vaguely distinguishing feature is that it apparently allows heroes to be obtained through seduction and torture – even such exciting features seem unlikely to rescue the game from total obscurity, although a sufficiently flagrant example of plagiarism could earn the game some notoriety.
Not unsurprisingly, it transpires that the game was developed in China…

"Not unsurprisingly, it transpires that the game was developed in China…"
Wait, so "not unsurprisingly", as in, "surprisingly"? Either case, this isn't something exclusive to China. Fact is that since the game is targeted towards a Japanese (or East Asian at most) audience, not many people even know of the Elder Scrolls series. They do it because it's easy for them to get away with it.
Here in the west, Disney is a prime culprit of utilizing cultural ignorance and unpopularity to legally plagiarize the works of others, but I'm sure you could find examples everywhere. I mean, back in the day, how many games tried to copy the Street Fighter formula, down to the generic and stereotypical characters and moves? You could argue they were mostly Japanese companies, but when you limit things like that to be wrong only on a national level, you're making a piss poor moral argument.
Wow. They were even dumb enough to use one of the most recognizable sections of Imperial City. Are they even TRYING to hide their actions? >.<
This is the center for Anti-China anything.
you do realize this site is pretty much anti everybody? just about everyone gets bashed here
That's why we love this site.
Another "Flom each akkolding tu he abirity, Tu each akkolding tu he needz!" incident:-)
I think the company that owns "Elder Scrolls" will go nuts, or rather "Ballistic". They do let-and encourage-people to "Mod" things, even selling mods and items online but this is a bit much. One thing to make your own "Elder Scrolls" character/world and/or sell a "Character Mod" for it, but then to use stuff from it for your own game project... It looks like they actually pulled the models from the 3D data and/or photo shopped it...
I can't find anything connecting China to this MMO, save for Artefact's stale and predictable jab at China. Can anyone find some reliable source confirming Chinese development of the game?
Did you even bother looking at the game's site?
http://destare.gamesky.jp/img/top/copyright.gif
2 of those companies are Chinese.
Okay, so chinese aren't the only ones doing that... oh, wait...
China... oh why you try to phail so hard?
This is so awesome, because it is a plagiarism of a plagiarism!
Limbo of the Lost used the exact same method and source.
Limbo of the lost China version!
Its Limbo of the Lost all over again.
Oblivion is a good rpg, and the plagiarism only confirm this
a kwine fahr uhhn owd wooooor ve'ehrun?
Those Cheeky Basterds!
TEH KING OF LEEMBO!!!!
To all these chinks, Bethesda already gives you LIBERTY PRIME! which ensures that Chinky Chinks (or communist Chinese) will fail since they can't made mecha!
On the cheap and out of time?
Don't cry your eyes;
Simmons-ize!
Looks amazing!
Who plays shit like that?
I have yet to see good web MMO.
Pretty lame... funny thou, lets take screen shots from a far more advanced real-time 3D game and stick it into a 2D slow paced game.
Successful seduction response= "Thou hast conserved me from atrocious tortures, offensive betrayal, perhaps even the extremes of treason."
I have yet to see a good MMO period. Nb4someone mentions WOW
UO, the -only- good MMO.
oh china, when will you learn?
Holy Crab..now imma gonna use some beautiful words
are u f*cking blind ? or u swapped ur bloody eyeballs with ur testicles?
or maybe u suggest that Janpan is a province that belongs to China?
at any rate,u are a f*cktard
lol holy crab
they're quite learned at simmonsing
not the first time this has happened

It's from China, so it can't he helped.
Cheeky? Non non. Its just China doing their thing as always.
China lost it's creativity after they built the great wall and start copying when Marco Polo showed them pasta.
i'm pretty sure it was the other way around with the pasta
China had crossbows, ballistae, and catapults before Jesus was a whore loving bum. Read some military history yea?
@ Anon 06:18 and anon 08:09, from Anon 00:39
I stand corrected, I Wiki pasta, the full explanation is there.
On the other hand I still remember my history teacher's talk about Marco Polo, the merchant went to China and shared knowledge with the chinese emperor at the time, including military tactics, also most likely weapons like the catapults. When Marco Polo wanted to go home, the emperor don't want him to go, he even offered Polo the position of a prince, for fear of other country learning china's existence.
Now, china sends shit loads of spies around the globe. If I ever see a spy, I'll ask him if he sees a full moon, I'll just pull down my pants and farts in is face...
are you really claiming that the Chinese didn't know about noodles until Marco Polo?
Note the word "Pasta"..
"Copy&Pasta."
Fixed, damn.. had to spoil the joke.
Well, they might have noodles slightly different than the real "pasta" recipe but they still had noodles way before Marco Polo.
the italians stole the pasta idea =.=
You suggest it takes creativity to build a wall? Anyway, why waste time on the background when you can just copy&paste?
What an exciting game, I am sure heroes that you torture will stay loyal to you :3 At least they ran those images through some image processors!!
Yeah I can picture that: Lina, wizard of the fire, if you don't accomplish this request you will be ASS raped AGAIN when you return to our lair... ¬__¬
Well, if the sex and torture graphics are more original than the backgrounds, this just might sell... ^_^
Did they?
Something isn't right about that theory...
Look at how everything on the left side looks like it's taken from a higher camera angle. That's something that could have only happened in game, in which the time of day would probably be slightly different than the official Bethesda screen shots.
I guess it could be some attempt to narrowly dodge the legal issues of stealing the official images maybe?
I was thinking if you torture them wouldn't they turn to the other side and swear to take your head?
nope. the culture idolizes masochism as a virtue.
China quality strike again!
China again..... Why am I not surprised..
umm..
"Japanese" web MMO sim “Destare”...
what?
It's a Japanese game that rips off a western game that's developed in China.
China... What else is new?
Are they fucking stupid? they didn't even alter the graphics of the screenshot to look custom... seriously it would take an hour or less but now anyone who has ever played Oblivion (<3) can tell that it's a screen from the game. I also like how they chose a shot from inside the Imperial City which is the fuckin' hub of that game not to mention the shot they took is the first thing you see when you walk into that district... *sigh*
[End Rant]
"Made in China" = "rip-off of another product"?
it's a japanese game developed in China that rips off western games based on japanese rpgs developed according to some white guy's impression of china?
what?
It's a japanese game developed in China that rips off a western game developed in China.
Japan product,But,made in China
China, you naughty girl. :3
i like your name.
::sigh:: oh China....
This ain't the first ya know -_-....go check out Heroes of Gaia (can be found in kongregate). That 1 took stuff from many Blizzard games (they even took warcraft 3 icon and claim to be theirs -_-)
China knockoffs may always be a cheaper, low quality imitations
BUT sometimes they do have more value than the original because for a low price, they give people the products they need..
..not the products they deserve.
BATMAN!
Mada, Chuugoku...
Reason's why China sadly cannot allow copyrights to enter...
CHINA QUALITY, OOO YA!
