“Nazi Moe” – Never Has Fascism Been So Sexy?

Some comments of mine went near "Flame Bait" in the past because I hypothesized we'd soon have a "Rape of Nanking" manga, showing the Japanese committing said atrocities and heroize them doing so.

However, I'm not saying that casually. I've heard, long before I discovered this site, several issues over the years. It seems to "Flip Flop" about every 4 years. One time a guy does a "Protest Manga" trying to get Japan to admit it did horrors back then. The other time it's a "nationalist psycho" who thinks the "Rape of Nanking" was the coolest idea since Wasabi and Whale meat sushi... They scream over it for a while, then like any other "media outrage" the interest fades.

As the last one was a "Liberal - Japan was nasty doing that thing which did happen" I predict the next one, esp with a 'right wing' govt. will be "Pro Nanking, it happened and was FUN!" attitude...

But this is only what I've heard. Things like this, IMO at least, argue my point that they might well do things like this. These things, both by embarrassment and national isolationism aren't really "Translated and brought to America"... Any Japanese here or Japanese literate living in Japan who've seen any of this?

Just got a real Horrid thought; "Moe Moe Nanking Encyclopedia" with as that series is getting more and more popular, cheap PVC Capsule toys of some of the characters/scenes...made in CHINA...cause they don't want to pay that old man in a shed a basic fee. Just watching the "Preview" images on J-List would be as "Sanity Damaging" as their "Cthulhu Encyclopedia" would be if the Lovecraft critters were real!

And at the factory in China, the workers are near rioting: "We know Marx said the Capitalist will SELL us the Rope with which we shall hang him, but this...THIS...!?"

they should make a WWII documentary anime style out of this book. Otakus around the world would become experts bout WWII. and i'm sure a lot of em would go to Germany for a pilgrimage.

As a Jew who also had Polish relatives that were annihilated, and a grandfather who spent some time in a German concentration camp (he was a US pilot), I have a personal perspective on information related to fascism:

My statement: "No matter how reprehensible; no matter how politically incorrect; no matter how irresponsible; NEVER should any discussions or material EVER, EVER be banned."

To make light of genocide, regardless of context, is fairly absurd, but I'm not offended--I would be offended it it was banned. I would defend a neo-Nazi or white supremacist's right to chatter their nonsense (based on US law), but would be offended and very concerned if their speech was banned.

When racist or ethnocentric speech (be it verbal, written or illustrative) is banned or censored, I get nervous--very nervous. Banned or censored speech inevitably goes "underground," and once beyond sight, reproduces through one-sided indoctrination.

I would rather have the neo-Nazi, racist, or anti-Semite by my side because then...I KNOW what they are doing. I can freely counter their absurdity or make fools of them.

As the aphorism goes, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

THIS is why people try and ban hentai stuff. IF people could use a little common sense and judgement sometimes i.e. games *Completely* focused on rape, as opposed to a small part, then we could continue to enjoy ourselves.
