Hideo Kojima: “I’ll Challenge the Industry’s Ultimate Taboo!”

Metal Gear master Hideo Kojima has made a bombastically enigmatic twitterance in which he promises to “challenge a certain industry taboo” whilst warning that “I may have to leave the industry if I mess up.”
His missive comes by way of a tweet, proving the character limit really does unfairly favour Japanese:
My next project will challenge a certain industry taboo.
If I mess up, maybe I’ll have to leave the industry. But there’s no escaping it – I can’t pass otherwise.
I’m 47 this year, and it’s been 24 years since I started making games. Today I found a companion who’ll undertake this risk with pleasure. It’s still only one person, but it’s a good start.
Speculation appears to centre on some form of erotic venture, although there is plenty of potential for this to be something much less exciting, or simply mere bombast.
Less charitable observers speculate as to whether he might finally make one long cutscene in place of a game…

What kind of ultimate taboo is he going to challenge? It'll probably be something lame and boring, which involves an hour-long fmv.
Taking a chance with something new in today's industry is a very bold move. I can't wait to see what he's planning. I hope it's good. I also hope it'll be something talked about for years to come.
He's not stupid to throw his career into the bin by making a sexually explicit game just for shits and giggles (Which, if he was really eager to do, he could just simply produce it under an alias.)
I believe he's talking of a "serious" game in which the male protagonist is openly homosexual.

That's what I'm wondering... what's a taboo in gaming? I suppose making the core gameplay as a tabletop game with dice and calculators, etc, and just making the game disc an opponent player?
Or making a random arthouse experience where the buttons continually remap? But we've come pretty close to that already - there are some surreal games out there.
It's been a long time I think since anyone made a major single player game with literally no end... there are those like Disgaea you could play forever, but you could also finish them.
Aha! Maybe he wants to make a game without an antagonist? Live as retired Snake, peacefully going about life uneventfully for some 500 hours of gameplay, or 2 years calendar time, until Foxdie surely kills him off in his sleep (I'm a few games behind, so that might not apply now... dunno.)
