Fans have been weeping bitter tears over Aya Hirano’s publication of an image of herself wearing what appears to be an engagement ring.
Hirano makes no mention of the ring, so just why she is wearing it is a matter of utterly baseless speculation, but there are plainly only so many plausible explanations for why such a ring would appear on her finger – the foremost amongst them would be that it is an engagement ring or similar, fans think.
Fans could be forgiven for wondering if there might not be some connection between her recent appearance in a wedding dress and the sudden appearance of the ring.
Naturally the reaction amongst her obsessive legion of fans is one of utter despair.

The person herself certainly isn't community property, but the image/illusion of the untouchable idol certainly is.
If she wants to make money of the delusions of these otakus, she has to act according to their "rules".
That's what idols get paid for. It's a job.
