Angel Beats heroine Yurihi‘s overwhelming similarity to a certain monomaniac schoolgirl now extends past simple character design and into some truly unfortunate “coincidence” courtesy of Newtype:
The text above “Newtype” reads “I’m not interested in any ordinary anime,” a clear reference to Haruhi’s catchphrase. Supposedly the text is there by coincidence rather than design.
Whatever the actual depth of similarity, the fact that nobody can shut up about it is probably a reasonable indication that Yurihi’s design should never have been accepted.

4. They both have VERY SIMILAR character designs
5. They both are very "persuasive"

7. Both have weird opening statements (aliens/battlefield)
8. Both have a "Kyon" character?

though I understand your point, some of those things can't be helped for the sake of story balance. Imagine what would happen if you take away the voice of reason from hyperactive characters like these. Though yuri seems much more methodical...yuri also has the excuse that here weird opening statement was suitable for the situation. Weird for weird.
Come to think of it...what makes a character tsundere these days? She hasn't done anything particularly mean or aggressive. It's still in the range of how a completely normal girl would act and speak...so why is she tsundere?

The problem with calling her a Haruhi clone is that she's not.
Haruhi didn't come anywhere NEAR to codifying the concept of wearing a school uniform, making the below-the-neck comparisons obvious and stupid. Off the top of my head I could name a dozen lead characters from anime and manga who wear similar school uniforms.
The bow and hairstyle? Again, Haruhi didn't invent them, or codify them, or anything like that. Hell, their hair is only the same in that they both have bangs and long hair, which could apply to thousands of characters. The only thing which comes close is the ribbon, and the problem there is that ribbons are a pretty common hair feature anyway.
I'd be far more inclined to call it a ripoff had the little details lined up (color, uniform stuff), but even the freaking body proportions are nowhere close to one another.
we are not only talking about that they look alive but their personalities are very alike. (so I copypasta for you to understand)
-they both are leaders of a group. (SOS and SSS)
-their talking style is alike. (listen to "baka ja nai no" of both of them)
-both of them are not quiet and have tsundere element
-their "sidekicks" are pretty deadpan sarcastic, exept otonashi is louder and resist, unlike kyon.
of course, those character elements are not rare in anime but for two characters being that alike is possibly not a coincidence. (but you want to say that yurippe is neither rip-off nor plagiarism of haruhi, which is totally right, right?) I rather think of a possibility of parody or hommage.

Angel Beats certainly has gotten off to a better start than Haruhi's troll ep beginning.
Angel Beats has all the elements of overhyped brainmushing fail. But then, people around here are watching Qwaser, so anything remotely resembling a brain must have been annihilated by now.

When the game was released the developers said openly that she was highly inspired from Haruhi. There even was an article about it at Sankacom.
Why is everyone bitching about it know? We already knew she was a Haruhi-clone.
Maybe this show is actually in production by China, or at least as a secret benefactor. Even Dinosaur Baby Holy Heroes could be contested for having more original character designs than this show.
They're probably using lower end korean animators.
