Frequent users of the search features on the main site or Sankaku Channel may be interested in some new functionality enabling searching straight from most major browsers in only two clicks, with no plugins or other devilry required.
Either site can be added to the browser’s standard toolbar search engines with the equivalent to the “add search engine” feature (with the site open in the window), like so:
Sankaku Channel’s tag based navigation and tag autosuggestions are particularly useful when used in this fashion.
Most browsers support adding custom searches with this common standard, especially Firefox, which happens to be what over 60% of visitors to the site use, along with Chrome and IE (currently neck and neck for 2nd place loser status with about 14% each).
Definite loser browsers Safari and Opera (each with 5%) do not support custom searches using this method, so users may wish to ditch them in favour of a quality browser like IE.
Autosuggestions are also available from the mini-browser’s search form (top left of this page), and from the search field on the Channel proper, with no action required. These also display the number of posts carrying a particular tag.
The search page for the main site (the form is at the top of every page as well) also offers the ability to conduct several different types of searches, currently without autosuggestions.

Gotta say I love new search function!

That's been in a while, actually.
nice
I'm using firefox and the option to Add Sankaku Complex is not present- I have the predefined search engine list, and the ability to "Manage Search Engines", but nothing in between? Anyone else got this problem? I'm on the latest version.
Definitely have the page open?
Yeah I did.
But I came back now, a few hours later, and both the Complex and Channel were showing up. Oh well, problem solved.
A feature I'd like to have on Sankaku is a button that brings up a random article.
And thanks for the new function!
Have you tried looking at the bottom of the page?
Oh.. Apparently I am half-blind. Thank you for opening my eyes! = )
Works fine in safari so what the hell are you saying -,-
I used to use Firefox like crazy, switched to Chrome not that long ago, I'm quite happy with it. FF is still cool for some of this plug-ins, IE is mostly for Government pages around here.
Chrome, or in my case SRWare Iron, is tricky to work out what to do at first...bad thing is no drop-down menu to let you choose search engine, instead you need to input at the very least 'keywords' that allow you to use that search engine
artefact pro.
Failure to recognize Opera's ability to add search engine are UNFORGIVABLE!
firefox is shit that crashes every few minutes
BUT LOL UR COMPUTER IS SHIT
YOUR FACE IS SHIT
Awesome ;)
"Definite loser browsers Safari and Opera (each with 5%) do not support custom searches using this method, so users may wish to ditch them in favour of a quality browser like IE."
Wow. At least try do a little more search before making incorrect statements like that. Opera has custom search since... far too many years ago, and it is also the first browser with the feature.
People are just too dumb to realize majority of the "new" things by Firefox and Chrome are copied from existing Opera features.
I guess Conkeror doesn't like tag usage in tagsearch.php output, e.g.
["nolo", [ "chronolog", "technology", "noloty", "nologo", "tachnology", "mikunologie_(vocaloid)"], "39", "31", "6", "2", "1", "1"]
versus
["nolo", [ "chronolog", "technology", "noloty", "nologo", "tachnology", "mikunologie_(vocaloid)"]]
Can someone confirm that it does work without those numbers?
Looks like it was fixed. http://repo.or.cz/w/conkeror.git/commitdiff/e282ee4
yea!!!!so f@c#in great!!!
w.w
Chrome!!! Haaaa.:P
w00t!
*add Sankaku Channel*
*futanari bakunyuu paizuri*
*enter*
A technical problem has prevented the page from loading.
(((;°д°))))
TT^TT
Fixed, I hope.
I only have Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 8 and Opera, the only missing is Safari with a huge Video Memory required to run Safari
Quality browser? That's Opera. I won't go for those lesser browsers for a minor stuff like this.
The quality browser was for the IE nude filter thing, and probably the only reason cause IE is just shit T_T
Lesser browsers? There are no lesser browsers, just preferences.
Even IE8 is on the level now, if lacking in certain features.
Works with Opera too, you just got to know what you're doing, that's all.
That eliminates 95% of web users then.
I think most of the sc users know how to use a computer...
lol.
Im a noob on internet browsers.
Anyone could make a short how to tutorial on how to add that search engine to my firefox? Thanks in advance.
Is that a trick question?
Step 1. See the search bar on the top right of your firefox browser?
Step 2. Click the down arrow button at the right side of the search bar.
Step 3. Click "add Sankaku Complex/Channel"
Step 4. ..or simply just refer to the first pic.
Step 5. Pray to the Almighty Frowning Mugi.
Step 6. Go to a shopping mall and shout "I love currypuffs!!".
Step 7. Kill Minase Yuka by slitting her throat and cut her guts open.
Step 8. Bring the head of Minase Yuka to Shiori-sama..
Oh yeah I got it to work. My search bar was hidden for reasons unknown, so I though that I needed some plugins. Thx anyways MaidNiac
Lolifox for me
It's just sad that they don't upgrade Lolifox anymore.. :<
Nice handy addition :3
*Added Sankaku channel..*
Mugi's serious frowning face still left me in deep Awe..
Chrome fastest ftw.
Not anymore..... Opera is currently the fastest browser on earth
Firefox has the fastest Javascript parser
html 5 is the trend now
Actually, Opera have been able to make custom search engines for years.
Just rightclick in the searchfield and click "Create Search". This works on ANY searchfield.
Just wanted to clear that up :D
And this is modded down because?
Because it is missing the point in true Opera evangelist style. Most browsers can do it in about 2 clicks thanks to an open standard shared amongst them.
On a sidenote, the Firefox searchbox will only suggest you something for one tag. Once you hit a space there will be no suggestion for the second tag.
(This differs from how it functions on the site as it does recognize a space as the start of a new tag there)
It can't, since it doesn't support OpenSearch.
Firefox, OTOH, can create Smart Keywords from arbitrary text fields, just right click, select Add a Keyword for this Search, type in a keyword, and you can use in the location bar. Obviously, the search bar and keywords need to be unified so you can select a keyword for your OpenSearch, and have your Smart Keywords show up in the search bar.
I did exactly that with Opera. Aside from search-as-you-type which I don't use (I don't know whether it can do that or not).
