K-ON! Third Season Unveiled

A third season of K-ON! has been indirectly announced by way of DVD pre-orders for the title opening.
Amazon (and other retailers) have begun listing future K-ON! DVDs far in advance:

K-ON!! (Season 2) 9
This obviously suggests at least 18 episodes (unless it came with only one episode per disc, which at $70 per disc would hopefully be unlikely), and a second season of K-ON!! (with two exclamation marks), both pointing to a continuous run of two 12-episode seasons, for a possible total of 24.

So there's apparently going to be a 3rd season when the 2nd hasn't even finished yet? Either fake news or strict overkill.
Each anime is 12-13 episode long. If the anime goes on for 24-26 straight episode airing it's correct to call the second half of the anime (12-13 episodes) a hypotetical 3rd season.
Two halfs, as simple as that.

The announcement I can't really care about one way or another, but I'm indirectly pissed off that not only did K-On! get a second season in a reasonable time, but now a third?
All of this, and Haruhi-fucking-Suzumiya had a 3 year wait for a second season that turned into a troll, with no third season in sight?
Dammit, KyoAni, or Kadokawa, or who the fuck ever. Treat your franchises better. Especially the ones that put you on the fucking map.

Since the second season is about their last year in high schrobby,.. then the third season would have to be about their entry into Nippon Women's Unversity and their big break into professional music.

i think this season could have potential and if they play there cards right they could make this epic like say CL"ANNAD and Cl"ANNAD after story and throw in a movie for extra cash so they could make even more "moeblob" and angry kids can slash at the crisis that is moeblob, hell they could even make an MMO game and call it World of Moeblob and make tons of money for atleast 10 years lol. Bitching and insisting that every show should have over the top plot (or else it's considered as shit) isn't.
No one is asking for an over-the-top plot. We're asking for at least some RESEMBLANCE to a plot. The more unique and interesting it is, the better, of course.
But let me tell you about my view on these shows with massive female casts, that are aimed at the hordes:
Enjoying the presence of those girls in anime is OK, no one's going to deny you that.
However, I don't really think you have the right and the moral ground to call us "plotwhores" when your show contains nothing BUT potential fapping material.
Not to say watching one from time to time is bad - quite the opposite. To better understand anime as a whole, one should experience everything that it has to offer.
However, if some people keep insisting "K-ON UBER ALLES", I've got nothing more to say to them.
