Japan’s budgetarily challenged public broadcaster NHK has taken to providing moe anthropomorphisations of the seasons in its weather reports, the star of the show being the lovely Haru-chan (Spring-chan), who can be seen in a variety of curious illustrations on national TV once again with the onset of spring…
Lest anyone doubt these images, she is completely official and even has her own informative homepage complete with meteorological manga.

General Winter is getting ahead of himself:
“Moe” in a very literal sense.
Other seasons also receive personifications: Konatsu (Little Summer), Aki-chan (Autumn), Tsuyu-kun (Rainy Season), and of course cold-hearted Fuyu-shogun (General Winter) and his fiery summer counterpart. They each have the character for their season etched onto their foreheads in case things aren’t obvious enough.
