To me, Up and Macross are easily better than any of these. And yes, I watched them all.
WTF WHERES EDEN?!!!!!!
No Eden? WTF
wow Up ranks in that list? impressive.
Eva and Summer Wars nice..
Guess they love Yoshiyuki Sadamoto art?
Nice Cameltoe in the pic
Where the fuck is Fate Stay Night :UBW?????????????
I haven't watched it yet, but according to what I've heard, it's kind of dissapointing, which would explain why it's not on the list. And frankly, I'm not surprised. Trying to cram all of UBW into a 90 minute anime movie? I don't think so...
I REALLY loved UP? but I SERIOUSLY don't want it corroding this list.. -_- Yeah its an animation, but, THAT anime, is nothing compared to THE anime we all watch!! Bah!! I watched 6 of the movies on the list, and in my opinion, the list is kinda messed up.. I get why Eva 2.0 is first, I agree to that, Summer Wars was goodishly great? but eh.... 2nd? I don't think its THAT deserving.. and Gurren Lagann 9th?? Shoushitsu 6th?!?! psh...
UP by all description is still animation hence deserve that spot.
That Asuka up there is Tony's, right? Hot damn!
Yes! Evangelion 2.0 so deserves this.
UBW..sniffs
I'l just refer you to my post a few posts up.
My only problem with the position of the Haruhi movie is that Macross F is above it. I will reserve my impression of the Macross F movie though, since I haven't seen it, but if it's anything like the last third of the television series, I will most likely despise it.
Oh, no. Please don't tell me Kara no Kyoukai 7 is below the likes of One Piece and some Pixar shit I've never even heard of.
If you haven't heard of UP, then that's your problem. It is actually a very good movie. That said, I too would have liked Kara no Kyoukai to rank above it, as I love the movie, and all the other 6 movies in the series as well, though to be honest the 5th movie is perhaps even better than the 7th.
Evangelion it's just retelling the same crap story from some 15 years ago again!
And it's still one of the best stories ever told despite being 15 years old. And I say "despite" because you seem to think it is a bad thing, personally, I think many of the oldest stories of humanity are among the best ever.
Not surprised by the ranking.
Evangelion 2.0 and Summer Wars were always contenders for the top 2 spot, though this is the first time I've seen Eva 2.0 beating Summer Wars. Maybe Dengeki's overseas subscribers helped tipped the scales in Eva 2.0's favour? Considering Summer Wars has yet to be shown outside Japan.
The influence of anime in Japan itself is plain to see as Oscar-winning "Up" only ranked 8th in Top 10 Animated movies of the year.
(I guess this should also be considered as a compliment for Pixar, with its meaningful and actually quite mature stories alongside its CG animation skills managing to break into the anime dominated Japanese market. )
what about 'Ponyo on the cliff by the sea'?
(hayao miyazaki)
That's from 2008.
knk 7 is a very good movie, but it's far from paradox spiral level(the 5th movie). Actually, really like the eva 2.0. It deserves the 1st position (but it isn't like the movies in the list are the only good ones to be released last year/this year)
Summer Wars was Digimon the movie + Meet the Fockers.
ROFL!!!
Havent watched the Eva or the Haruhi movie and I randomly downloaded Summer Wars. I am a little surprised at Up though.
Other than the ones mentioned above I didn't really know they were produced. Probably cause I stick to my TV series
wow didn't realise the Vesperia movie was out.
Too bad Sunao Katabuchi's MAI MAI MIRACLE (マイマイ新子と千年の魔法, Maimai Shinko to Sen-nen no Mahō, lit. Mai Mai Shinko and the Millennium-Old Magic) isn't listed; I saw it at a festival and I loved it but I like simple slice-of-life stories.

wohoo nanoha is so high.Seen only 9 on that list anyway.
lol, Up. I am not surprised about Kara no Kyokai 7 as last.
I think it should be higher up. I loved all of the Kara no Kyoukai Movies though, and put together, they are a fantastic series.
I'm surprised it's on the list. In fact, I consider 6th one the best out of them all. So what? Tastes differ, you know.
I am, that movie was great. Not bombastic but stylish and incredibly directed. On the other hand its last from series of movies that isnt for everybody, who didnt liked previous movies woudnt go to this one...
Wasn't the Haruhi movie released in 2010, a month ago?
"Wasn't the Haruhi movie released in 2010, a month ago?"
Yes, but these are the top movies of the fiscal year, not the calendar year. It varies by country, but in Japan's case the fiscal year runs from April 1st to March 31st.
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fiscal_year
In actual fact, this season is still counted as Winter 2009 instead of 2010 as their spring season starts in april where Spring 2010 officially arrives. Therefore this may be the reason that the movies released early this year is placed in 2009.
I think I can safely disregard this poll as utter retardation since they apparently count eve check the release date for several movies.
Was probably fiscal 2009.
How about Gundam W:Endless Walts?
And nanoha's movie? But well, talking from the season view they're still in spring'09 area.
Up is actually surprisingly deep, kind of like the original Alice in Wonderland story, since both have hidden mature themes even though they're both aimed at children.
I see some do thumbs down on comments about "Up"; stop that.
IT'S ACTUALLY NOT A TROLL. Remember, Japanese call all of the animated movies "anime", thus it can be on the list if the sales are high enough.
Don't even joke about Gundam Wing being good for anything other than Tallgeese.
because PIXAR RULES, even in Japan. In '08 Wall·E was in the top of the animated movies for MONTHS.
Up was awesome fool.
how the Fucjk did up get in the list???
I like how evengelion is top on this list, as everywhere else summer wars was above it. I am very amused
Actually, the Haruhi Movie, Macross Movie and Nanoha movie are all 2010 movies...
"...top animated movies of (fiscal) 2009"
Which really encompasses from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010
Which makes this list even weirder, as it is still march.
Nope. It is actually part of 2009. (Spring of last year to Winter 2010)
Is this the second gurren movie?
Gawd that was epic!
Yes, I almost cried with its awesome...
lol your pic matches with your comment
All is right with the world...
Yep... Kinda weird...
yeah! not only haruhi, also nanoha both we're 2010 movies, why is it in the 2009 list?
Because if they only included 2009,
position 1 to 6 would be taken by Summer Wars XD
