English wikipedia is retarded with their insisting on importance and collective ego stroking with comparisons to Brittanica and such. Sad truth is, that purely scientific articles on wikipedia are horrible piece of crap. As in, I made my PhD in article subject and still can't understand gibberish they wrote. And there is no correlation between quality of One Piece character list and article about Surface plasmon resonance.

What wiki should do is to get out of their ass, realize that they will never be like paper encyclopedias (who uses them anyway) and instead focus on wiki medium advantages.

If someone wants to write about Miri panties collection, fuck let him, as long as it will be high quality, well sourced article. Let people write about what they want to write and focus on encouraging them to help with 'important' articles too.

Also, they should enforce clear moderator structure (with means to strip them of their title) and work really on inviting specialists back to field.

Actually, problem with poor quality of scientific/wikipedo-ic articles is not that there is too many One Piece articles, but because all the specialists that could write were driven off by dumb mob and/or mods on power (lots of cases where some professor made changes to article about *his* research only for them to be undid by some pimply moderator or random dude who didn't even understand what the article is about)

These complaints are stupid, using space on stuff they don't think is notable doesn't diminish the quality of the articles they do think are notable.

If anything, it ensures they'll be higher quality since vandals will spread out their attacks.

I believe that 2000 years from now, when the historians study our decade, they will find One Piece. They will see it the same way we see nowadays Greek myth (Hercules, the Argonauts, etc) or even biblical stories, fictional texts related to religion.

I remember using Wikipedia a couple or two of years back to look up info on Pokémon. Yes, that was one of the main reasons I used it. But since I discovered Bulbapedia in late 2007 and became a member a few months later, my usage decreased.

Oh, and if you look at the (English) Wiki, compare the amount of information they had about the franchise in 2006 with the info they have now.

I've written Wikipedia articles and have had to deal with their editors, and those guys are freaking Nazis. They're under the impression that people actually care what their initial impressions are. The fact of the matter is, people go to Wikipedia to find information about ANYTHING -- instead of going against the flow, why don't you just adapt and make sure it adheres to your policy in terms of notability and accuracy. I prefer Wikia to Wikipedia when not looking up history or boring non-fiction things.

Wikipedia is a public domain and as such, it only reflects a society top priority and... well... actually I'm amazed "porn" is not a top lister, anyway, if they have it like that is because they WANT IT to be like that, so what's the problem after all?
