It shouldn't be called a wedding because it isn't, it's a "wedding-like ceremony" and nothing more and of course you can have that with everything (you could "marry" a flower or a dog or your chair,doesn't matter because neither the land nor the catholic church is involved but it's like a theatric performance for some audience...).
