They've used the Nintendo DS, washer timers, cell phones, pagers, walkie talkies, timer circuit boards, and Christmas lights. It's not like this is anything really new and unlikely they can mass produce this as cheaply as what they've been doing. It is, however, why they don't have nice things.
I don't even think that's a PS1 controller but instead of of those cheapo Chinese NES/SNS on chip things which would have a mechanical switch you might be able to use to to activate an electric match.
Wouldn't it be cheaper for the terrorists just to.... you know, BUY EXPLOSIVE SUPPLIES! I mean, it isn't like they are.... RARE around the world!
This is just another thing that shows that the United States is IN OVER IT'S DAMNED HEAD in Iraq and Afghanistan.... the first, we shouldn't have gone into in the first place.
The second, Bush should have his NUTS in a vise for lying to us about the level of support that the Taliban was giving Al-Qaida.
F.U.C.K YOU AMERICA!!!!! LONG LIFE TO THE TALIBANS!!
NO MATTER HOWLONGS ITTAKES BUT AFGHANISTAN SOMEDAY WILL BE FREE OF ALL YOU AMERICANS MOROMS!! EVEN IF THE A PS3 CELL PROCESOR IS NESSESARY!!!
Perhaps the controller was used to activate a cheat to grant the terrorists temporary invulnerability, infinite ammo or to enable additional fighters to materialize out of thin air!
No wonder the foreign invaders are having a hard time ending the war. -.-
*Sigh...* If only I could configure my controller buttons to manipulate time, make someone disappear, put money in my piggy bank....
Blown way out of proportions. The controller is an initiator device meaning it's not more than a wired switch. You could do the same thing with Ethernet cable.
I'm no expert on the history but I remember hearing about an interesting and very ethically questionable military tactic;
The enemy was dug in and the Chinese army was sent in to invade them. Don't know if it was a new conquest or a rebellion issue later. In any case, the Chinese army would have overwhelmed them eventually, but the cost in lives and time would have been too dear, an oriental "300" in the making. So the commander did this; "You insult us! We do not need as many men as we have brought to defeat you!" and at his signal several thousand soldiers instantly killed themselves. They then attacked a now fleeing enemy and won with hardly any new casualties. The simple math, based on many other battles, he'd have lost far more men than the ones he sacrificed by this trick and it would have taken him months for a conquest that shouldn't have lasted a day.
So, I'm bringing this up to try to say anything good about AmeriKKKa. But I fear I've failed, for no spin, even Faux Noose can spin this right.
The USA probably spent, what, $3 million on that expedition? (counting Halliburton jacking) And the bombs will be replaced by Osama or some other Saudi Arabian royalty who feels like "Exporting Jihad" in the expenditure of 1 penny by comparison... And this time, instead of a bunch of cruddy ancient ordinance and jerry-rigged stuff, they'll get the top of the line from the "Merchants of Death" the USA lets fund the petty dictators.
Just one man's opinion, but IMO it's also like that Osprey thing.
They spend US$60 million to make a working model, fill it full of recruiting poster Marines and lift it up. Due to the "Square Cube" law, it drops like the brick it resembles killing all aboard, so they build another one, change the software a bit, and fill it full....again and again... Now they are pushing them into Iraq to try to justify their expense, but they are also vulnerable to dust... So, nothing but "Vanilla VIP" runs heavily guarded and low enough a fall is survivable. All they are missing is showing videos of this to the insurgents who spend US$3 (or nothing, if a Cluster bomblet gets caught in a tree branch) to build a roadside bomb to kill/maim a dozen troops. "You think you want to kill us? Look how WE want to kill us!" And maybe they'd go; "How can we fight such barbarians?" and just try to convert troops to Islam so they'd desert and form their own "Petty government" and blackmail the USA for the oil, but not be that mean to them.
Wasting money is what large organizations be they for profit companies or governments do best. You'd be hard pressed to find one that doesn't lose money in a variety of ways.
im glad I dont live in the u.s.
and always have been the us is one of the most unoficialy corrupted places on earth
its no wonder they spend all their money on bombs its coz they get to have a bomb at discount price

In the next fps that comes out they need to replace granades with ps1s.
If the Taliban support PS3, what more do you need to know that it's the superior system?
It only does everything indeed.
Gamers (aka "next generation soldiers")
seems like they can just use everything they get

Everybody's gonna get bricked...literally
worse' they could resurrect the old 8bit game Bomberman and use it as a tactical simulation for planting bombs.
couldn't they have found something cheaper as a detonator?
I remember when they say the PS2 could guide missiles...
Ahmed and Salim!!!!!!!!
it's like booby traps, you just take anything that lies around and combine it. Like net, traptool, barrel, powder and some weird fishes
I don't even think that's a PS1 controller but instead of of those cheapo Chinese NES/SNS on chip things which would have a mechanical switch you might be able to use to to activate an electric match.
I always knew playstation was too high-tech for resourceful people, and that was just a ps one controller.
It only sets of bombs... gives a new meaning
it only does every thing lol

Nintendo and Microsoft are more patriotic.

What the?
The hell is my Playstation doing there?

a good way to kill otakus
"armies of liberty"?
Why are you trusting faux news?
I wonder if they played some eroge with that...
It's a Sony!! EVERYONE GET DOWN!!!
eh, i thought they just used the insides of the PS3 in their missiles.
thats cool but fucked up

I am awaiting the blowjob peripheral Sony, make it happen.
Make Believe!

Human Ingenuity wins all wars.
