The third BD edition of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun boasts some incredibly subtle and in some cases quite inexplicable changes from the TV broadcast version.
Spotting them is hard enough, but can anyone explain them all?

What the hell?
Those last 2 can be explained. Kuroko teleports more in the Blu Ray version.
In the last picture, Kuroko's judgement armband looks like its hanging off too far.
Let's think in 3D. People usually walk independently of each other.
why do they ever have to make something different..!? Especially something impossible to notice by just watching it?
It was a test, just to see if anyone would notice.
They should apply nude filters. That sure would get some attention. ^_^
no, they need to add a Kuroko filter
so she can get her Onee-sama!
I think that would just lead her to more zapping. Crispy.
I like my raging lesbians extra crispy.
cause its fun ? I personally dont know why either, maybe its to stimulate those people who love noticing those tiny things and to get them to post up about it on the internet to keep people interested and talking about the show ?
...or maybe they just made a mistake O_o"
The can edit is easy to understand, though I liked it better in the TV version. It's for the sake of having colour contrasts and make the foreground standing out from the background.
The new positioning of Kuroko is for composition, it's visually better to have a tall-low-tall order rather than low-tall-tall, it also makes it look friendlier, if you know what I mean. And they lowered the position of Uiharu in the last picture too since they made her too tall.
As for changing worried face to a happy face in the first one... I don't get it. Making Uiharu fold her hands just makes it more natural for her personality.
They screwed up on the footstepping though, looks more like a flaw now, especially when her right hand suddenly got thrown into the shades, even though the rest of her arm gets light, which makes no sense.
The new faces on the couch scene seems to be only actual fix.
The first one is all about Konori's glasses. Her happy face is just unfortunate screencap timing.
I applaud you for your eyes, some I just miss.
bd version have more lenght
Because the anime industry isn't tanking fast enough, so instead of making one show for HD, then putting it on TV, BD, and DVD, they make three versions at around 225% the cost, then go "aaaaaaah! The anime bubble is collapsinnnng!"
Looks like photoshop spot the difference :o
There's some crazy subtle differences, like the cans in the vending machines, and the shape of Uiharu's face on the couch.... not as drastic as most BD releases lately, tho.
As long as we don't see "condensed steam" or "sudden rays of light from heaven" filters, a slight difference doesnt matter
BD and TV are both good ^^
For the lulz or to troll?
Cryptic Arrangment is for the Lulz
Evil-space-ninja-communist-gnomes that lives inside BlueRay consoles who likes changing stuff?
They made it to
#4. PROFIT!?!?!
oooh i get it, your not suppose to spot the difference cus there is none, fail troll article
Fail idiot anon.
sodayo sodayo sauce dayo!
you're blind eh? sounds difficult to be on the internet.
basically someone with OCD is running the show and obviously B SHOULD BE NEXT TO A NOT C
Lots of work here!
Character placements. lol
I think in a scene or two they polished it ever so slightly to rid it of QUALITY but other than that I have no idea. Must be a picky animation team that really wanted to tell a story in utmost perfection via visuals.
Ingenious I say!
...
some small cosmetic changes for the better.
The notable corrections are from the 6th episode..
-The vending machine background is now correctly aligned compared to the TV version (the TV version showed the top row of cans from the vending machine, but the BD showed the second row which is the correct one).
-The last two corrections were made to better adjust the next scene which is now correct in the BD version (basically the next scene is Kuroko and Uiharu close up shot and talking while facing to the left of the screen... so the TV version is wrong unless Kuroko suddenly moved/teleported to the right side of Uiharu).
Well, at least the last one makes sense given their orientation on the previous one.
Ummmmmmm................
the last two will lose you a pretty penny also where can i get the Judgement screen saver from?
are you kidding with me, the only ones that look like there is a difference is the last two and #4 with the different cans in the vending machine, the other ones look like they could have been just a different screen shot with a frame or two off.
I can understand subtle face expression changes but not the people swapping places. Why?..
To understand the change they made for the last two screen shot, you must watch what happen after those scenes. Basically after those scenes, they showed Kuroko standing at the right side of Uiharu, so those changes were made to better match the scene after.
Well... She might have teleported. Who knows.
Ok, thanks. Nice to see that people are still polishing their work.
wow no difference in my opinion maybe some really minor stuff if you look maybe it would be a difference if its on a huge HDTV
The only difference i could see ... are the cans ._.
1: face expression on left character.
2: no idea
3: shadow on hand
4: new cans
5: no idea
6: switcharoo characters
7: same
2: Uiharu's hands.
3: The Disappearance of Kuroko's mouth. (Lame pun I know)
5. Saten-san's face.
5. The center white dot on the green armband too.
Too add on....
3. Fingers under boot in different spot
5. Uiharu also gets a chin
5. Uiharu's eye's also slightly adjusted
3. BD Boot has a spot of light on the toe.
Too subtle to really add anything, but hey, a plus for the effort they put in to fine tune it. Except for the last one and the serial numbers...seriously why?
The serial numbers stayed the same, but the sodas in the background changed
Oh yeah, didn't see that.
