I'm one of the few who can't find enjoyment playing this game. It's very boring and the graphics look very outdated. But to each to his own I guess.

count me in too...this gams is boring and the graphics are ugly and disgusting...i don't get why people pay to play a game where the males of all races are ugly, the females of all races are even more ugly*some actually are so manly that they're almost man*, the monsters are really ugly*ok they're monsters but not EVERY monster has to be grotesque, you can perfectly have a few good looking one, etc.* ...and the worse even the scenarios are ugly...I just don't get it...if you wanna stay hours playing a game looking to the same character over and over again at least choose a good looking game like lineage 2, aion ,etc ...a game which everything is well done and pleases the eye...and the scenarios are awesome like in aion the scenarios are so fucking amazing, not to mention that sky/other half of the world that's freaking cool and awesome.

I played Lineage, Aion, Lineage, GuildWars, WarHammer. Age of Conan. All of them have nice graphics(exept for WH). But when it comes down to gameplay and enjoyment WoW anally rapes all those games.

WoW is mostly dominated by the people usually not playing mmos or games - the general populace.

    How could they know how really good game graphics look? ^^;

I played that game myself for some reason its more addicting then other games.Hell it makes Final Fantasy online look bad for a lot of new MMORPG that come out I am sure someday any new MMORPG one can beat it.Already there is Star Trak Online and Star Wars Old Republic Online which do you think has the most fans that want to play that game?

As a former l2 player yeah the gfx look great (especially if you have an elf fetish), but the sad reality is it would take you years to hit max level - really insane grind.

Wow's endgame content really is pretty fun. Most people who rip on it - never made it past level 20 or something

Like... yeah! People like yourself makes me despair. You'd probably prefer playing a gold colored pile of bullshit rather than a bullshit covered gold nugget.

My NES and SNES are still taking up the best spots in front of my TV. I guess I have an awful taste when it comes to good games. I mean... the gfx is what makes games good, right?

@rikezero well you're obviously a person who only cares for graphics instead of game play.
Just take a look at starcraft how old is it? 10-13 years old, crap graphics and yet its still being played at international game competition level due to its game play. I know cant compare a RTS game and a MMO but what im saying is you should play a game for its game play not graphics. But ill admit WOW is boring now that they dumbed down the game as for the graphics pffft Blizzard havnt updated it for years since they are secretly making another MMO

Actually, STO is fairly shallow and while the space bits are neat to look at, ground based stuff doesn't really differ that much from WoW.

Most folks intensely seem to dislike the ground aspect.

    SWoTor is wait and see.

You know, it only takes a few extra variables sent every time a character is loaded to make them look better. There is no excuse for how ugly WoW is.

but I did find it fun until I quit forever.

On the contrary, most of the user base was playing on older comps, so limitations were put in place to allow the game to run as smoothly as possible.

Since that time however, most folks have upgraded their hardware, the Client + Warden to keep Blizzard up to date as to what you have under the hood, and yes, that's legal it's in the ToS that you agreed to. Hence, why the game is getting a graphical update with Cataclysm, even then it will still be stylized however, because that just fits the universe as it has been presented thus far.

Why would the network protocol be responsible for specifying graphical resources? That makes just as much sense as calling someone over your cellphone to come change your TV channel.

Graphics don't matter to me at all, possibly because I'm in my mid 30s and I get just as much enjoyment out of 8 bit games as I do PS3 and 360 games.
My main beef with WoW is the grind quest factor. If I can't get from level 1 to 70 without some asshole asking me to collect 50 sheep livers so he can brew his magical beer, it's not a game I want to play.
I personally find the leveling systems in games like Mass Effect much more compelling because most of the side-quests (assignments) used to help in leveling actually feel like they mean something instead of just being mindless grind fests.

I agree, people who base the worth of a game solely on graphics need a bullet in the head. It's not the graphics that make the game, it's the experience. And if you're gonna complain about something, complain about your experience; if you're going to complain about graphics, you don't deserve to play any video games.

I read the first sentence. You need a bullet in your face. 8-bit games is 8-bit games, not-8-bit games is not-8-bit games.

yep grinding is boring, then again compare WoW with another Koreans MMOs.

haha grinding in WoW is like joke in compare with them.

gameplay in Korean mmos also bad really bad, I've played tons of them (kalonline, rappelz, heroes, silkroad, shaiya, rohan, cabal, rom, sun and more). In most case, class were really broken, zero fair competition, never ending e-drama with tons of egocentric ppl. Its just disgusting.

the only interesting one was Space Cowboy aka AirRival aka Flysis. at least diff than mere common koreans grinding mmos.

those koreans mmos also lack of content, PVE? PVP? so tiny...

most people who bash wow never actually played it till end game or they just played it on private server.

sorry but atm wow still the best mmos you can get out there. If you dont like it, then you might consider stop playing mmos.

To each his/her own yes but I can't help but wonder where games like Eve Online are on this list. Eve broke some pretty nice records, like having 50,000+ people on one server on at one time (broke their own record three times this year), their server technologies are pretty nice too. I keep forgetting that whenever I play another game after playing eve that lag exists :P

Anywho I tried the WoW, wasn't bad but at least for me it wasn't great. Then again it's hard to find a fantasy game like this that I can enjoy, go figure :P

    Comment by Anonymous
    07:28 25/02/2010 # ! Neutral (0)

Eve has only one gigantic realm, so it makes sence to have a lot of people online.
But make no mistake - that's not one single server but an entire group of servers working together (ie cluster).

In Eve, having all players in one realm works, because the distances are so great that the large user base doesn't really impact gameplay that much. In games like WoW, it's just not feasible to put so many players in one world.

I tried WoW and the reason why I didn't like this game was that there was no balance at all. Developers made one job absolutely strong while leaving all the other jobs obsolete. Also everytime there's a new update everything else in the game becomes useless (armor/weapons/dungeons). And the worst of all, freaken game full of annoying ass 12 yrs old kids talkin shit.

Just as the various anime studios and license holders thank you for yours.

You got your thing, WoW players got theirs, as long as everyone is happy and content, why does it matter what each person does to amuse themselves?

If folks didn't play WoW, then wouldn't suddenly flock to anime or manga. So it's not as if it's negatively effecting what you enjoy.

Heck, you'd have more reason to be upset at games like Id@lmaster, considering the effect such games seem to have on the mangaka of Beserk, to name but one example. :p

When I used to play WoW I rarely bought any other games, maybe 1 or 2 a year.

Since i've stopped playing WoW i've been buying much more games.

Just buying ONE console game is 4 months worth of WoW. If you buy less than 1 game every 4 months, then yes, WoW would be more expensive.

But for me, I saved money while playing WoW.
