Capybaras (chigüires) are tasty. It's meat is salty, like baby sharks (cazón). We do eat em both here in Venezuela. I guess that Swan was protecting em' from becoming chubbier and end up in Venezuelan sushi rolls.

and once my uncle provoke a swan, the swan chased him around the house until the owner stops the swan.

A few geese will let you know if anything's amiss -- a fox sneaking up on your chickens, some stranger driving up to your house, enemy army scouts sneaking up on your fortress, etc.
And, unlike dogs:
a) They are no fun to play with, but,
b) When they are so old they need to be 'retired', you can cook them and eat them without feeling bad about it.

I'm not surprised. Swans can be pretty viscious. Territorial. They were sometimes trained as guard animals in the old days. They have bony knobs in their wings that can actually hit hard enough to cause fractures.

It's quite simple. The swan is bigger, or can make itself look bigger than any of the capybara. So they don't mess with it. Doesn't look like they're smart or aggressive enough to take advantage of numbers either.
