The titles and productions credits for the second K-ON!! season’s OP and EDs have been announced, happily revealing that the same teams that produced the original season’s massively successful singles will be reunited for the new songs.
The recent announcement comes by way of TBS’s website, via the same update page that gave us news of K-ON!!’s huge television broadcast lineup:
The OP is: “GO! GO! Maniac” by the Afterschool Tea Time band (i.e., the seiyuu for all 5 Keion-bu girls), with lyrics by 大森祥子 / Sachiko Oomori and arrangements by Tom-H@ck.
The ED is again by Afterschool Tea Time with lyrics by Sachiko Oomori (who incidentally happens to be the lyricist behind practically every single K-ON! song thus produced), composition by 前澤寛之 / Hiroyuki Maezawa and arrangements by 小森茂生 / Shigeo Komori.
The site specifically mentions Yui (Aki Toyosaki) and Mio (Youko Hikasa) as the lead singers for the OP and ED respectively, mirroring the first season’s Cagayake! Girls and Don’t Say ‘Lazy.’
The rest of the production staff is an exact duplicate of the earlier songs, so the new songs might well attain the same chart-topping status as their predecessors.

wow nice pic, where do i find that in high res ?
The charm about K On, is that the girls are plucky and cute, without sexual overtones that some pervs have applied to the characters.
I can't think of them as sexual objects, this is one anime I consider to be hallowed just because the lives and personalities are so precious.
I hope the cinematography of the next series will be up to the standard of the original, some of the scenes were very well designed and animated, without being excessively technical.
I hope it will cover at least their concert in the big arena as well as their entry into university. I can't immagine Yui as a NEET, but I can imagine Yui, Ritsu, & Mio mooching off of Mugi in the Student Dorms.
Then there is the possibility of Sawako-san, moonlighting as their manager to consider as well.
For the otakus out there, consider that the main characters are going to be university students, you gotta remember that they are going to be a little more grown up and (more filled out) than former high school girls.
*According to the manga, they are in their last year of high school.
I'm anxious about where it will pick up and then leave off.
But at least there will be some closure that we were left hanging when the first run ended.
cheers guys and gurlies!!
I'm just waiting for After-school Teatime to go National and deal with being huge rock stars, including dealing with drugs and groupies. And then we'll get a 20-year later VH1 special about them.
does any1 know when and where we will be able to listen to the OP & ED songs or do we have to wait till till the first episode of the anime S2 to come?
Great news. Can't wait to see it.
I hope it'll be nice... I may just be watching it for listening to the songs
it should be nice. the same score team who did the OP for S1.... expect good guitar riffs
Nice!
Even though there wasn't much music featured in the show itself, the songs were still some of my favorites in the last year.
I really hope they do the "U & I" song that Yui writes for Ui. The lyrics were just so adorable and sweet.
The image. So little Ritsu loving.
ข่าวช้า!!!!
No moe metal? Booo...
LOL, your comment made me remeber detroit moe city XD XD
yea yea yea! so many nice songs this year!
wow.in the pic mio has become soo pretty.azusa still no 1 though.cant wait 4 it
hope the style is more like bubblegum crisis 2040. seeing as they are grown up now.
Reminds me a lot of Black Rock Shooter.
I watched K-ON and the best part of it was the music, can't wait to check how these are.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to think so. It's all the use of darker colors and shadow. o.o;;
Hey. All of you people above... it's NOT OFFICIAL ART!
I have this pic on my laptop desktop for months, don't recall the name of artist tho.
lol. :D
Obviously not official art, but an awesome adaptation of it.
in case u dont realize, that is not the official art
if they really use that kind of art with the same style of story, im gonna kick my monitor and send it to KyoAni as a curse. lawl
I think it would be rather awesome to mix a dark style with a light story.
If it used that style, I might actually watch it for more than two episodes this time 'round. Moe blob is all sorts of retarded.
of coz i realize.and i would support ur action.because it wont be moeblob anime anymore
no. what i meant is the chemistry of dark style of art and light moeblob story just can mix. it'll be a huge disasters
Don't Say Lazy is going to be really hard to top. I'm looking forward to seeing how this will turn out.
Really enjoy Mio's singing over Yuis. Yui sounds too childish. Mio's got much more range and feeling.
Even though ppl troll on the excessive-moe factor and lack of plot, I think all of us can relate to the awesome music produced.
Cuz their music seriously, rocks!

?wut? @_@
Yui's singing makes my heart melt. I love that seiyū! I hope she makes a good career.
IMO Mugi has the best singing voice out of all of them (followed by Ui). I really hope she gets some good character songs for this season.
I'm pretty sure that both Yui and Mugi's seiyuu will have good singing careers since they're both a part of Sphere.
Mugi's seiyuu is really good at playing keyboard too.
also, I've seen Ui's VA( not yui ) sing live on Japanese TV she's really good, best in the entire cast so far
Aki Toyosaki is a successful singer on her own (even before she starred in this show), so no worries about that.
lol she JUST recently started singing and K-On was one of her debut type anime-album-singles.
i don't think anything will be better than "don't say lazy" but i could be wrong. Either way that was the best thing to come from that show.
I wonder if "GO! GO! Maniac" is going to sound anything like "Let's Go!"
All five versions of 'Lets's Go' one after another are my favourite place on my player, Mugi's and Ritsu's come off well, although Yui's and Mio's do sound more professional.
If I'm not mistaken, isn't Asian Kung Fu Generation involved in doing the soundtracks?
Just a 2ch rumor, bro
Anyone know the artist who drew the picture?
Sorry, I don't recall where I found the top image for this post.
I didn't find it from the Channel, and that's all I can remember.
http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=6875983 [http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=6875983] it's from pixiv
I just hope their riffs sound like A Day To Remember.
Best. K-On! Picture. Ever.
If the art looked like that then I would probably despise the show less.
But Mio looks squint-eyed.
the only thing I'm looking forward to is the music...wonder if they can manage to top off Don't Say 'lazy'
In my opinion lots of songs on the singles top it already
