The eagerly anticipated second season of K-ON! has been announced to be broadcast on a staggering 28 Japanese television stations, more than triple the average number for an anime series.
Normally the number of stations a new series will be aired on isn’t especially noteworthy, but in this case the sheer size of the new K-ON!!’s broadcast stations makes for an exception:
For comparison, reasonably popular series airing this season are Sora no Woto with 4 stations, Dance in the Vampire Bund with 6, Omamori Himari with 7, and Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu with only 3.
The first series of K-ON! only aired on 9 stations, so this huge jump in the number of networks airing the show should prove testament to just how hotly awaited the continuation of the Keion-bu’s story is.
Indeed, stores in Akiba right now are still bedecked with all sorts of banners and posters commemorating the 2nd season announcement (the other current big otaku celebratory events being for To Aru Kagaku no Railgun and Haruhi no Shoushitsu), so this new reveal only stirs the red-hot embers of otaku excitement even more.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many idiots that think that something must be funny or else it is shit. The show is more interesting rather than funny. You know what's funny? Your tiny brain, and not only that...
I hope it doesnt turn into Endless Moe...
Why punch me in the gut... That's a joke right there.... Right?
I still haven't watched K-On1, I should go see what the hell is all this hype about
ain't missing much, its mostly for miihaa people.
ACTAR ANGRY. ACTAR SMASH!!!
nerd anime,
fuck it in the ass
bring back real anime ya mother fuckers
No one is forcing you to watch it. Don't like it? Go watch something else then. Plenty of other anime to go around.
ha ha, take that haters...
Bet half of the posters here are Mio-tards.... -_-'
so you mean...
50% Mio-tards
49.5% trolls
and
.5% ???
I don't know what's a good category to add in.

"There is no conclusion in life"
Um...yes there is?
28 stations later eh?
Im quite the fan of mindless moe but i still don't know if i enjoyed this show or not because i know i watched it but i don't remember any of it.
Then go get your brain checked... Even if it's 0 in the story department I remember the shows I watch.
Of course speaking metaphorically can sometimes be a way to troll right?
But no internacional edition!
I'm not a fan of moe anime, but K-ON! was able to beat me.
The girls aim for all the weak points, and their formation is perfect. It's impossible to avoid their attack, and even if you're some weirdo and the main cast didn't do anything for you, the supporting cast is also solid and fills all the spots.
And even though they're all standard archetypes at first glance, a lot of originality in their personalities can be found, so they're not just clones of previous moe characters.
It's a guilty pleasure to watch this, but a pleasure after all. In terms of moe anime, this is king. Its beauty it's in it's characters and soft lighthearted humor(I truly laughed at some spots, and it's hard for a show to make me do that, I usually never laugh alone). It doesn't have any story, but well, you can't have it all, and it's just 12 eps.
tl;dr: the show is fun and well done, go watch it.
In my case i was a fan of moe anime, but then K-On! made me turn :P
I normally avoid that smacks of moe like the plague, but really enjoy K-ON!, largely because it is very, very funny. And, honestly, it's not *that* moe, when all is said and done - certainly no more so than Bamboo Blade, another slice-of-life high-school "harem show" with no "plot" to speak of. And, hell, it's got as much - if not more - plot than Sayonara, Zestubou Sensei... or a lot of older, classic anime franchises like You're Under Arrest or Oh My Goddess, to name just two.
Taishou Baseball Girls, now... that's probably a moeblob, if ever there was one. But even that's got a plot, and some brutally funny moments, like the nighttime fight in one of the later episodes.
Bamboo Blade is a "harem show"? O_o
I thought people around here had definition issues with slice of life only.
fuck moe and fuck you
enjoy yourself in fuck festing everyone.. I'll be enjoying my moeblob ^^
I'd rather be eagerly anticipating a fourth season of Full Metal Panic. Get on it, KyoAni, I'm sick of your fucking stalling.
You can pretty much blame the complete collapse of the American anime market for that one. Full Metal Panic was never a particularly top-selling franchise in Japan, but was much more popular in the English-speaking world. When the market collapsed, publishers like Kadokawa and Pony Canyon had Kyoto Animation produce more shows that would sell well in Japan -- hence things like Lucky Star, and K-On, and so on. So it's not "stalling" on anyone's part -- it's a business decision.
Yeah, the dropping of Tokyopop's novels is the biggest hit imo; novels > animation.
But I was sure that the FMP franchise was pretty popular, if not heavy in merchandise and product movement. (Japan)
Possibly a questionable one? Just look what they did to Haruhi.
And here I get pissed when I see the same show on more than one channel. Then again, not every place in japan gets the same channels IIRC.
I didn't mention it in the article, but yes, of course these channels are not all accessible from any one broadcast area in Japan.
The list merely referred to the stations premiering the show right away or soon after the show's debut, as opposed to picking up the rights to broadcast the series months after it has aired as often happens.
Actually, these channels are even exclusive to different regions of Japan.
The 28 channels you listed form ONE network: JNN/TBS.

Basically this makes K-ON!! one of the few anime series that can be received via terrestrial in every corner of the country.
Hmmm, some of those stations are Korean (SBS, MBC..) right? So does that mean K-On airs in Korea simultaneously too?
Not that I was aware of, I didn't research it this post to that extent, I'm afraid.
K-ON doesn't need a storyline. It has moe. [2]
I don't hate K-ON..but this news saddens me. Seems too much for a moeblob show with no real story....
This show... is one I've yet to touch with... well anything more than a random glance because it was forced into my vision.
The reason I found Haruhi entertaining was the narrator being the main character in truth, completely random wtf twists, and the fact that the story doesn't even revolve around Haruhi that much...
Seeing Haruhi with that weird quasibucktooth look that KyoAni switched to for kon made me not even watch was after or what ended the endless 8.
Needs more Slice of Life slams into supernatural imo.
(Like TokiKake for instance)
this is probably the initial popularity that haruhi2 would have had had they not dragged their asses on that.
agreed.
I can't wait for the second season, and not just for moe issues. I've actually gotten some pretty good laughs out of the series.
I never understood the appeal of K-ON storywise, but it can't be denied that everything KyoAni touches turns into gold.
isn't that banned, along with human transmutation and opposing government?
Na I mean c'mon it's KyoAni
Buh-Zing!
(Just kidding Fellas XD)
I knew I would've smelled a King Midas joke!
Because they only touch moe blob shows which sell to indiscriminate otaku.

K-ON doesn't need a storyline. It has moe.
1 night slot for TBS
27 reruns... nice....
K-ON doesn't have a storyline. It's just moe. Unfortunately/fortunately it sells.
Because it's best to just watch and not think?
Right, so SBS-MBC : Korean broadcast as well?
中国地方 = Places in China
It just says 中国放送 which means broadcast in China.
No. It is written in Japanese not Chinese.
Chuugoku is a region of Japan. The 国 ("koku") refers to the old states/regions of Japan, like 四国. Similarly, there is 九州, etc.
It will be obvious from context which is meant, or the distinction will be written out explicitly as 中国地方 ("chihou" - "region"), etc.
Chuugoku is a province in Japan, the middle 'kingdom'. It uses the exact characters and pronunciation as China.
国 (noun)
1. [historical and fossilized definition] Region(s) under a granted authority by a higher ruler, king or general.
(国 from 中国, denoting a region within Honshu, is the fossilized usage)
2. [modern definition] state under the foundation of "citizen" ideas of European Romanticism and beyond: unified education system, established ethnic identity(ies), complete governmental intervention.
CBC, Canadian broadcasting corporation :D
So the first to air K-ON!! practically monopolizes the viewers
For the confused OP:

What the hell.
RCC (中国放送) 未定
K-ON's being broadcast in China?
it's always some complaint. I remember when there were people saying that please twins sucked because it took the whole series to reach the conclusion (the definition of a plot). K-on doesn't revolve around a continuous plot like that. It's actually a better example of the slice of life genre. There is no conclusion in life so the plots are just day to day events.
I can't see why there are so few that can take K-on as it is. It's about highschool girls hanging out and playing music. For better or worse, that's it-oh my god who is Busu-Kawaii and what is wrong with her face?!
It refers to 中国地方 not China
Every anime series needs an intruiging and complex story to be good. Yep. Geez, bunch of idiots.
China is gonna go on a copy-fest.
Chinese K-On = ULTIMA-FAIL!
I don't understand why people have so much trouble accepting 'Slice of Life' series. These series have NO storyline and their appeal is usually their charming characters and humor.
Slice of life=no story, my goodness. You have no idea what you are talking about child.
Not really, I play a variety of Instruments (Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Violin) and the fact that Yui just suddenly LOL AMAZING AT GUITAR and small things like that annoyed me more than anything.
Still, it was a rather good anime.
You probably have to be involved in playing and singing music yourself to really enjoy K-On! fully. I enjoy it very much, i play musical instruments. I feel i`m home watching it.
Exactly what I wanted to say! Every slice-of-life show has a story to tell, just using different plot devices. I'm a big slice-of-life fan (Azumanga, Aria, Genshiken, Hidamari, Niea_7, etc.) but even with its funny moments K-On kinda failed to pull me into the show as much as the above five.
There's slice of life... and then there's moeblob slice of life.
The former is relateable, the latter is practically porn.
k-on? music?
you're watching the wrong show, mang
04:06
LOL. You may not be a regular sheep but with that name, avatar and attitude its obvious you're Just a regular old EMO. I'm sure you didn't like Bakemonogatari because all you emo friends liked it. and liked k-on because your emo friends didn't. All because you're so unique lol. GTFO or better yet go cut you self some more then GTFO.
and porn sells, yes it does...
I don't see what's your problem with moeblobs. How do YOU even define MOE? Do you even know what you have a beef with?
It's hard to enjoy with so god damn much nerd rage aimed in it's direction and the fact it's constantly rammed in your face no matter where you go.
I'll be honest, I liked it far more than Bakemonogatari. This probably makes be a moefag that has no taste and doesn't like the best anime evar to most people.
But at least I'm not a fucking sheep.
Want to elaborate on what you mean by that? I enjoyed K-ON for the same reason I enjoy any other slice of life: It made me laugh and I could turn my brain off. What makes moeblob slice of life "porn", exactly? Having cute girls as characters? Get over yourself.
I liked Bakemonogatari for it's style of humor and storyline. I liked K-on for it's everyday simplicity and music. Then I went on the net...I hate everything now.
Because those people don't have a life?
Because some ppl need to be entertained with bang bang and blood and hard driving and fist knock-outs and death rays and explosions and.... you get the idea.
Infantile minds. Why are they trying to watch anime in first place? Most anime is everything else but not that.
Not having own life can be a good explanation too. Hard to get interested of K-On!, Lucky Star and similar anime without ever having experienced slices of life themselves.
Then shouldn't people be complaining the lack of
storyline in Lucky Star as well? What's so hard in NOT having a storyline in the first place? >_>
Ah, now everything becomes clear. Well, that's the internet for you.
Because K-On just ain't funny?
K-On! like other school life genre, it doesn't need some grand picture in the background that drives the series forward. Actually it would be awkward to have one in this type of series.
However K-On! has charming characters as well as character developments to go with their high school life story revolving band music.
you forgot the "moe" factor in the anime. if it didn't have any moe shit in it, K-on! wouldn't sell at all.
