The Liberal Democratic Party, Japan’s former rulers, have confirmed the candidacy of Miyako Aso, a former idol and actress noted for appearing completely nude in a variety of sex scenes and gravure publications.
Miyako Aso (麻生真宮子), now 42, formerly known as Mamiko (真美子), is now standing as an LDP proportional representation candidate. Some of her more edifying appearances during her former career as idol and actress are highlighted below:
Of her career, she has this to say:
“I’ve done all sorts of work, and all this experience is useful to me today. I’ve no intention of hiding anything.”
It might be more accurate to say she has nothing left to hide, and just what politically useful experiences she gained during the filming of “Woman Keeper” (女飼い) is perhaps best not speculated about.
Of course, if a figure like Arnold Schwarzenegger can ascend to high office after frequently appearing naked or in the act of brutal violence during his film career, in principle nothing appears to prevent a woman with a comparable background from enjoying similar success.
In practice however, Japan’s politicians tend to be drawn exclusively from political dynasties or more sombre professions, so whether the electorate will be sympathetic to her wealth of useful experiences remains to be seen.
