Namco: “No Perfect Tales of Vesperia Overseas!”

Namco Bandai has consigned international fans of Tales of Vesperia to eternal beta tester status, saying it has no intention of releasing the PS3 version of the game in the US (and presumably in less important places too).
With the admittedly utterly staid and unoriginal Tales series performing unimpressively in its localised versions, it is not a huge surprise to see Namco saying it has “no plans” to release the game in the US.
Fans of Patty Fleur are sure to be disappointed; the Japanese version is however available now.

Minus Atlus. I haven't seen anything disappointing when they localize games. So I'm happy for that. But otherwise yeah. Huge dissapointment with Bamco.
It would be nice to see the PS3 version come over but since it's not, this just means I should just study the language more so I don't have to worry about localizations -.-
And Game Freak doesn't has such attitudes either. The main Pokémon games haven't been significantly crippled in the localizations, with the exception of Crystal, which made the Japanese lucky because by connecting their GBCs to their cell phones, they could do pretty much what every Pokémon player around the world does now over Wi-Fi in the DS games.
This is a SoL moment for me. =_= I was looking forward to it. So much so that I didn't pick it up on Xbox...

Namco doesn't even make any eroge that I know of. Why would they hurt themselves by not releasing the game on the (now much more popular) PS3? Unless they think they WON'T make good sales....

No kidding. Their sales may be better over here if they would stop screwing all their customers over by releasing complete versions of their games a literal year after the original title. I always liked the Tales series, but I completely stopped caring because of this. There is no reason to keep buying BN games when they first release anymore. And now, its apparently not worth it ever.
They'd have to release games in your territory for you to boycott them.

JRPG makers are pretty good at making better versions of their games and never releasing them to the other regions.
Well I think the problem here is that it was never released over here on PS3 to begin with....so we don't even get "normal" much less "better". x_x

The Tales series does reasonably well enough in the west however. There's pretty much no reason why they shouldn't take it to the west.

but what i dont get is, for a game to go international, how much added work + money is really needed? wouldn't the game be 95% done and in the end they would just make money?

After the hack job NISA did on AT2, I'd rather not have it come over here at all than have them translate it. At least the original Japanese version won't have half the voice acting removed and game-crashing bugs.
Considering it's over a year and a half old I'm not really bothered by this. It would have been nice to play with Patty and see the new dialogue and costumes etc. but I highly doubted they'd bring it to NA/Europe anyway. I still enjoyed the 'beta' version and that's all that really matters.
The thing that really irks me with the series of late is the random dropping of voice work for their games of late. Legendia was the worst I'd seen for this by far, with the entire last half of the game being simply ignored. Abyss was great, then they half-assed the Skits, which were a defining part of the series. When I saw that they had done "full voice work" on the Perfect version of Vesperia, I was actually beginning to let myself hope again.

I'm really hoping this is just the tail end of a Microsoft US region exclusivity agreement or a "deny until officially announcing" sort of thing. Otherwise I'll take the import route next year, hopefully the import price will fall by then.
