Sleeping with Women “Reduces Intelligence”

Research suggests men who sleep with women suffer impaired mental performance and increased stress.
The Austrian researchers analysed the sleep patterns of young couples, comparing their sleep and after sleep performance when sleeping alone versus sleeping together with their partner.
Comparing 10 nights in each configuration for each of the couples, they found men suffered increased stress levels and exhibited poorer cognitive test performance when they had not slept alone, an effect observed irrespective of whether the couple had sex together.
Women are also said to have had their sleep and performance impaired by sleeping with their partner, though to a much lesser extent than with men.
As usual with such headline grabbing research, the study is vulnerable to scientific criticism on a variety of grounds, the most crucial being a small sample size and failure to consider confounding variables such as differences in sleeping habits between couples.
A researcher responsible bizarrely suggests communal sleeping is unnatural:
“It’s not surprising that people are disturbed by sleeping together.
Historically, we have never been meant to sleep in the same bed as each other. It is a bizarre thing to do.
Sleep is the most selfish thing you can do and it’s vital for good physical and mental health.
Sharing the bed space with someone who is making noises and who you have to fight with for the duvet is not sensible.
If you are happy sleeping together that’s great, but if not there is no shame in separate beds.”
Doubtless he would be fascinated to hear that the Japanese have developed the perfect solution to having to share a bed with an unruly ape, which both preserves restful slumber and provides men with the illusion of a loving partner.

Speaking a langauage (or in my case not speaking one) and intelligence aren't the same. Face it, english is a world-known langauage, and non-native English speakers will never speak it as good as the native ones.

Multilingualism actually is correlated to reflective thinking and Verbal-Linguistic intelligence, as well as Interpersonal and Intrapersonal intelligences. That's the reason they teach foreign languages at public schools, not because foreign languages are important for daily life.

The term is 'Lingua Franca', and English is neither the first nor will it be the last, just like French was before it, Spanish before French, and Latin before Spanish, and even Greek before that.

[This is really off-topic, but since you brought it up] The same holds truth for everyone, really. English native speakers can't speak German or French or Japanese like the native speakers.
Truth be told, not even native speakers speak their own language correctly. "Boast" is the 'correct' word [was used first] for the same concept that is more commonly referred to as 'show off'

so this sort of research is what money is being wasted on; instead of being put to good use finding cures for diseases and ailments.
of course you're going to have increased stress levels. you are with someone. you are aware of their presence and assuming your a good spouse, you wont go hogging the covers and spreading out on the bed from end to end, which in my experience relieves that little bit more of stress. either way this research is just like the tobbacco companies research team. they can counter any common sense with corrupt scientific variables and reasonable doubt.

I really can't see where you pulled religion into this from. It's quite a sad attempt.
One thing I'll say is the guy is clearly bullshiting about the historical part. Pretty sure it still got cold way back when, body heat seems pretty attractive when theres no central hating.
i am pretty sure this is a security thing rather than a warmth thing, you do have to comprimish security for survival but that doesn't mean you have to like it.
being more stressful with someone could cause you to wake up easier if they ever did turn on you. i've noticed my ex used to wake when i rolled over rather than when i touched while she was sleeping in bed alone, if thats anything to go on.

I think you've taken all Christians, or maybe even all theists, and stereotyped them as the science-hating creationist.
