The denizens of 2ch have pooled their photographic resources to create an extensive gallery of jinja, or Shinto shrines, along with a number of other religious objects, particularly the “torii” gates which mark passage from the profane to a sacred space.
Such buildings are known for the quality of their architecture, and for their picturesque natural surroundings:

Nice. it has been too long since last gallery like this. always prefer these.
Missing the panties, half nude to nude girls in 3D or 2D
where is trap?
agreed 100% trepiz,
these pictures make me want to visit japan and start touring through all these places, they look amazing.
If you actually visit/tour, you'll change your mind about wanting to see half of them. You will mostly think seen one, seen them all with a few exceptions. At least that's how me and the people I went with felt. I guess it also depends on who you go with.
I respectfully disagree. I think it depends on how much you enjoy the history of the sites, architecture, atmosphere, etc.
I saw a few while I was there and I'd give a fucking kidney to go back and see more.
I'll take your kidney for a plane ticket to Japan.
Comes with first class seating on JAL.
First class passengers are currently being taken hostage and held for ransom to get JAL out of the financial pinch.
JAL is going bankrupt next month anyways. They'll restart right away though.
Futsumi Inari Taisha (the shrine with all the torii gates lined up after each other in the above pictures; there is something like 10,000 of them) is quite nice. It's probably my favourite place in Kyoto.
Sorry, that should be Fushimi Inari Taisha. I always get that wrong.
Whats with all the dolls in 57.
The antecessors of anime PVC figurines
That jinja holds a memorial service for old dolls.
A lovely gallery. I enjoyed my visit to Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Generally any shrine with a trail of torii leading down its main path creates a very peaceful feeling when one walks through them. It was nice when they put up the orange gates in Central Park for that installation art piece a few years ago. It reminded me a lot of those torii.
I'd love to see the submerged torii at Itsukushima Shrine sometime. I'm a little surprised it's not here in the gallery seeing how famous it is, but I guess a photo wasn't necessary since every Japanese person and his/her mother knows about it.
No boobs, no girls, no loli?
Screw to.
I leave.
Those are some sexy torii. I came twice from this gallery.
All these "torii" gates remind me of someone we all know...
Jigoku Shoujo
(no19 looks like da temple entrance for bakemono though)
jinja, not jinger... it's not cool
You mean 'ginger'?
Don't blame me, it was in the original thread. "Jinja" and "ginger" are pronounced/spelled identically in Japanese.
Technically, the pronounciation should go like this:
ginger = jinjaa
technically, wouldn't it be pronounced "shouga"?
that being the actual japanese word for ginger.
"Ginger" is used alongside "Shouga".
Nothing beats the 88 Temples in Onomichi. Just walking to each temple and shrine tells a different story.
But those are Buddhist temples....
Do the shrine maidens wear the white and red in Japanese Buddhist temples?
No, shrine maidens are for shrines (jinja,) which are Shinto. If you saw women at a Buddhist temple (o-tera), I would imagine she'd be a nun.
I thinking he actually mention the twin girls in fatal frame 2
Armpits, they came to my mind.
These look so cool... I'd really love to see these in person; no, I need to see them!
We need pics of shrine maidens
great gallery and some pretty awesome photos... some of those torii feel so surreal.. especially the ones in the more remote areas
Is 35-41 a place where these are manufactured? This stretch of pics seems so odd.
The juxtaposition of 34 is just so bizarre.
The rest are exquisite though. Many are extravagant, but my favorite are the minimal ones.
Awesome pics. I'd really love to take a tour around Japan and visit as many shrines as possible.
Btw, what's those paper-thingies called that are tied to a rope that's around a tree?
Then train up your physical condition. Shrines are usually on top of high hills. That`s hard climbing, bro.
Those are Shide, used for blessings.

Those pics are HOT and Sexy! I'm so horny right now <3
*fap* *fap* *fap*
I swear none of the other galleries come even close to the level of arousal this gallery gives.
damn, can I join? Those pics made me say "NO" to my girlfriend lol.

Some of those shrines won't be standing a few decades from now, judging by all the decay and moss. Such things happen quickly unless the local community makes an active effort to save places like these. Of course a pair of twin miko would help as well (especially if one of them is a tsundere). A nice gallery all in all.
I believe the buildings are continuously updated with fresh timber, when decaying of wood becomes apparent. Shrines are kept in their original appearance, but renewed with new wood.
But not all religious structures seem to be that well kept, after all. Maybe they are replaced elsewhere.
*fap fap fap fap*
No Hakurei jinja??
Go Gensoukyo
Hakurei....jinja no....BINBO MIKO!!
