I have been to many main streem Christian Churches and have never been told I must pay money to hear their beliefs, Nor have I ever seen them try to use copyright law to prevent someone from publishing their holy books on line. Many christian churches provide free food, clothing and shelter to the poor weather they believe or not.

I have seen these same features within the Jewish, Islamic, Buddist and Wiccan communities. Yes they all ask for donations from their members so as to pay for the land, building materials, and salaries of those who work full time for the church. But it is not required to gain either knowledge or salvation.

Scientology by comparison requires you to pay money for every step towards salvation with estimates to the tune of $500,000.

And no I am not a supporter of any of the above groups as I am agnostic.

Yeah I love how everyone rags on chruchs for asking for a donation. They don't demand it, just ask if you can spare some money. Why? Churches don't build and pay for themselves. They have utility bills themselves. The preacher gets his money from the church. You expect the man not to eat because he is doing what he feels he should do with his life? Bullshit.

I am not a Christian, but I understand offerings. Its to pay the bills to be able to keep the building. Use some common fucking sense instead of just hating for stupid reasons.

If you are going to point out flaws of the Christian church, point out something with a good point. Not because they ask for a donation to pay their bills.

No, churches don't demand you donate, but they try and guilt you into it pretty hard. It's as good as obligatory.

Christianity does not always equal priests. Anglican, Protestant, adventists and many other denominations do not have priests. It is primarily the Roman Catholics who do. Some people would even separate Christianity and Orthodox.
