The artistic development of 20 veteran ero-mangaka over the preceding decade is compared in this pair of images, demonstrating anything from radical progression to artistic regression.

20. たかしたたかし / Takashi Takashi
Itaba Hiroshi's art drastically changed. I'd love to see a year by year comparison for this artist...
DISTANCE is one that's improved a lot. His work was never bad, but his 90s drawings had a very generic style.
On a side note, sometimes I wonder about the mindset of authors like Oyster, who seems to have done nothing but stories of girls in horribly depressing situations for the past decade.
I absolutely love Oyster's works, especially the jigoku series.
Can anyone recommend other mangaka that have similar themes/stories?
Inoue Yoshihisa ftw!
His art shifted to a more realistic look in recent years, but his accurate and incredibly detailed depictions of Shibari were as unequaled back then as they are now.
Welcome the burst of anime bubble and the evolution of the anime, manga and doujin industry....
Shiwasu no Okina???
Tsukino Jouki and Itaba Hiroshi my favs
where is Shiwasu no Okina and EB110SS in the list?
Maguro sure got wireder every years. His work that have time traveling girl make me LOL than a hard on.
hmm
some got better, some stagnated and others are loosing their touch
what's new?
You can recognize the style even after 10 years. Tsukino and a few others found new style to make their creches. You can separate Mogudan's art style by the size of breast to head ratio.
Itaba Hiroshi = Evolution
Kozuki Rio = Involution
1) まぐろ帝國 / Maguro Teikoku
2) オイスター / Oyster
Two of my favs.
Glad to see Distance and Itaba Hiroshi.
The old Itaba Hiroshi was much better. He used to do great lolis...
2000 - 2010 = 11 years
Right, because we already have 11 kamen riders since kuuga (2000) :)
List needs Shiwasu no Okina to be complete.
For the greater PORN
DISTANCE FTW
#20 is TakashiTA Takashi
This is a good observation. I tend to see moar progression than regression, but some of the drawing style changes can be contributed to whatever "interests" these mangaka have.
It's amazing what 10 years of drawing sex scenes can do for your artistic skills
The one at the top left reminds me of Siwasu No Okina, though it probably is a different artist. But the mentioned guy is one of my favorites and though he's been doing a similar thing (mostly group sex stuff) for that long his art is getting better. I loved "Shining Musume" where a bunch of idol singer girls have to do some kind of 'extra' work to get ahead and the leader of the music/record company IS the/a "Devil"... Who says Manga is unrealistic?
My other favorite, and the one that GOT me liking "H-Manga" was "Silky Whip" aka "Oh! Great!" but he seems to have totally gone out of the genre, doing stuff like "AirGear". I really missed his innovative take on Neverland for "Peter Pan Syndrome" though it was obviously thrown together as a backdrop.
---I parallel this to Richard Kane Fergeson, an artist who did insanely detailed and imaginative inks and watercolors for self published work (Offerings, Diamons...) but then got snatched up by the "Magic" card industry and did very little (except a recent Heavy Metal story) since then in terms of storytelling.
Of course Oyari Ashito's art is perfect, and you'd just have to be a Loli Haet-er to dislike his stuff. Likewise, there is a progression of style over the years.
-----Any Hackers out there? It'd be a funny project, and easy to do, to insert some of his outfits in the "Send to China/other sweatshop" files a clothing company makes. Like the "Violinist" ones from Quartett. Nobody would know, or would tell if they did, then they'd market them and people would buy them and maybe the media would eventually be informed... I could imagine some Stage mother getting in a fight with her daughter over it; "Mother! I picked this dress out myself, in part because I didn't think you'd give me trouble over it cause it looked classical! This is the final straw, you let me wear this dress or I become a pierced, tattooed, self-cutting Emo girl!" So she's wearing it playing at the school orchestra and her mother is moving through the audience and any un-accompanied male who seems to be looking at her gets a hard smack...
One of my favorite 'best' artists is Amano, though IMO he's going to a more 'minimalist' style in some of his works.
I like the 1st face on the first and second picture.
Even after 10 years, 琴義弓介/Kotoyoshi Yumisuke quality work has remained almost the same. Which Is great!! Also love Distance. :)
While character design in anime/manga devolved in the past decade, hentai actually evolved, and it is much better now than in the past.
Strange, huh?
Well ofc people don't read hentai for story (mostly) they read it for the naked pictures and naked pictures must get better and better in order to stay interesting.
why don't I see Inuboshi sensei in the list?
I want my lolis!
Probably because his style's changed very little. The actual quality of his work aside, it wouldn't serve an especially interesting comparison.
How about a list of those ero mangas now?
there isn't any hirohisa onikubo or uziga waita O.O that seems like a limited comparasion if their not going to show all fetish artists work in comparasion just vanilla h manga
missing some of the ebst ones like TAKEMURA Sessyu
He only has 2-3 titles in that period though?
I definitely like the 2010 work much better than the same artist's 2000-era work in almost every case.
How do you guys keep track of all these ero-mangaka anyways? I have enough trouble remembering people like Yang Kyung-il (Akuma Bengoshi) >_>
It's easy when you associate the quality of their style/preferred content with their names, you just cannot forget it if you often watch their works or are waiting for a release from them.
Not really my cup of tea in ero-magakas (aside maybe from Zero no Mono) I tend to prefer this kind (which will inevitably ring many bells around this place):
Uran
Amagappashoujogun
Machida Hiraku
Naoshi Onizuka
Akira Yamato
Molokonomi (hard to believe he has no book out yet, he's become my favorite, his stories and art are great)
By the way, does anyone know? What was the status of loli manga pre 2000? Seems it's been a good decade in that respect...
MMmmm... Kotoyoshi Yumisuke, Oyster
yum
still pro's after a decade
I think, Nozomi Yuu's, and Takashi Takashi's improvement is the most prominent. NOM NOM.
@@ Wouldn't Itaba Hiroshis improvement be way way more prominent?
Yay for more Dowman Sayman.
Seeing how an artist's style changes over time is one of the things I like about reading manga, western comics, webcomics, etc.
On e noticeable difference - there's shota in the newer one's
"On e noticeable difference - there's shota in the newer one's"
True..
Which is interesting because breasts seem be taking more prevalence these days too. Generally speaking, it seems like they're getting bigger all the time. Maybe too big. XD
That is because nipples are visible now. It`s not a question of size only.
The progression of moe.
Most of mangakas are better in 2010 than before. Much, much better.
Sorry, i can`t support that regression opinion.
Probably because of the computers they use now
Moe overload!!
Distance RULES!!!
That's the only one on the list that I even recognize and still fap to.
