Strike Witches + K-ON! = Sora no Woto?

The result of otaku mental calisthenics, this trio of images attempts to profile the moesome 1121st Platoon of Sora no Woto, already considered K-ON! descendants.
The logic involved might seem a bit sketchy at times, but as always, there is never a bad time to look at images of anime girls, so a closer look may be in order…
This first image comes via 2ch, but apparently hails from 4chan:
For the sake of easy identification, we’ll refer to each horizontal row from top to bottom with the letters A through E.
One 2ch poster did comment, “Gaijin can’t tell Asians apart very well, eh?”, but the comparisons seem apt enough, especially if one focuses on the Strike Witches and Sora no Woto basic character roles in their respective shows and not just their appearances.
The top row A is well-done since Kanata Sorami’s role in Sora is practically identical to Yoshika’s in Strike Witches, while her character design looks more like Yui’s.
B is also excellent for the same reasons as for Row A, with C and E being a bit further off the mark.
Row D is interesting, as it takes note of Perrine’s tsundereness and slightly brusque initial attitude towards the show’s main character and combines it with Azunyan’s basic twin-tailed appearance to result in Sora’s Kureha Suminoya.
In general, the Sora no Woto girls go well when compared to the two other shows above, given their uncanny resemblance to the Keion-bu, but with the military unit dynamics of the Witches’ 551 Joint Fighter Wing.
(Please note the marker near Tsumugi – perhaps a warning to stay away coming from a jealous husband!)
Tsumugi’s putative husband mixes in several other shows into the comparison, making it probably less accurate but still entertaining.
Row A is puzzling, as Aria’s Akari doesn’t immediately come to mind with either the Witch or Kanata. Row B is a bit closer, with Aria’s Akari and Saki’s Yumi somehow combining to make Rio.
Row E must be the funnest of the new sets, with the given pictures of Nagato and Chiaki Minami combining well to form Sora’s sleepy mechanic Noel. Plus, Noel shares Nagato’s general kuudere nature, so that’s another point.
This final one is even more Undine heavy, including Aria’s Athena in Row E, but is even more confusing than the last image above.
The intended use of this image must just be to ogle pretty anime girls, so please feel free!

“Gaijin can’t tell Asians apart very well, eh?”
Guilty. I have a hard time recognizing people in general but it seems to be the worse when it comes to asians. I have a terrible time recognizing seiyuu and idols, especially when they change their hair style all the time.
I'm honestly geting tired of this Sora no Woto = Military + K-on. Only the character art is the same. So what? How about the rest of the art? The landscape is beautifully drawn showing vivid detail that gives a nice rustic look. And the music is just pleasant to hear, including a song sung in French. Also, the OP is done by Yuki Kaijura. K-0n cannot compare to Yuki Kaijura.
I enjoyed K-on, but it was mostly generic fluff. Sora no Woto actually has EFFORT put into it. And people dismiss it because of character art? That's just silly.
K-on! was some awesome fluff. I wonder what the people was expecting... that the girls ride some gigantic mechas and save the world with the power of music in a Mio Kyun Kyun Attack? Or they becoming vampires and do cute vampiric episodic things?
Most of the comparisons are just rubbish >.>
sanya + ritsu = win!!!
both my fav characters!!!
Yje Kanata and Akari comparison is not that far-fetched, actually. Both have specific goals to chase, hopelessly positive, manage to cherish and find enjoyment out of everything.
They are the closest compared to Yoshika's "both are the new girl in the military" and Yui's "both sorta kinda have similar designs maybe".
Yeah, character designs and personality as well can be linked back to other shows (K-On), but So Ra No Wo To seems to have a very interesting plot grasp and direction in it [excluding moe and music relationship again].
I have high hopes for this animation and with two episodes, it does not disappoint.
No anime equations pls
Lol @ Mio + Mio combination.
Personally, I think Nagato is a dandere, not a kuudere. Also, the poster had better have been Sawako, since Mugi belongs to her and her only...but I digress.
Main point is, Kyoto Animation and Kadokawa fail.
I still like strike witches art better.
Watcha gonna do when shit hits the fan?
the first picture of the fourth was wrong
it should be:
Lucchini + Azusa
The approach style of the story feels more White Album.
I can't be the only one who was reminded of Tabitha from Zero no Tsukaima when I first saw Noel.
I actually see more of Kannagi than K-ON! except for Kanata who is completely a military Yui.
Haters gonna hate
This series is awesome
>but with the military unit dynamics of the Witches’ 551 Joint Fighter Wing.
>551
THAFUCK IS THE 551????
Protip, it's the 501st Joint Fighter Wing
sheesh....
I like this combo better:

:)
I am fine with this.
Wow, that actually looks pretty good.
Although 18 is almost a realistic age to be a Second Lieutenant (off by about two years), Rio (17) is about 18 years too young to be a Master Sargeant...
The back story to the world the show takes place in might end up being interesting though.
damnit im bad at math.
they should replace mugi with k-on's teacher, much more identical, both personality and appearance,
the akari link is the "suteki suteki suteki"
Actually, it's *1121st* Platoon.
Thanks for the correction, I must've been typing too fast.
Well if that isn't the greatest combination ever, I don't know what is.
I Knew it! I knew there was something familiar about this!
And we're comparing because???
Its still "anime" which I'd still love to watch...
No comparison would ever change how animes work
Well yeah, people have only been saying this since the first official artwork came out.
Which I didnt see
I denounce this entirely D:
Tis moar Haibane Renmei than K-On. Just because the art is similar to K-On it doesn't mean it's as shit.
Haibane Renmei + Strike Wutches = Sora no Woto
Search your feelings, you know this to be true...
Hold on, Haibane Renmei + K-On = Sora-no-woto, you say? I'm fine with this.
That's good to know, because if it's really Strike Witches + K-On, any attempt to watch it would make my brain eject from my skull so violently I'd need a squeegee to scoop it all into one heap again.
>implying K-ON is shit
k-on starting was really nice, but it became shitter when they focus too much on fan-service.
all anime looks like anime, does that make anime unacceptable?
k-on was acceptable, but having characters from other anime that looks "k-on" like is not...
Have to say that's true, after the first concert episode the show turned plainer and then right after Azusa's debut, it's just obvious to see that the producer ran out of slice of life humour. Tbh, I could feel myself in Azusa's shoes grunting "Quit slacking and pick up those instruments, dammit!!"
....though, I do love the last two episodes including the extra ep13 nevertheless.
Just like Dragon Warrior Monsters...
(ANY MILITARY SHOUJO ANIME) + K-ON = SoRa No WoTo
I'm also willing to look past the ill-fitting art style to see if this anime is any good. The setting seems similar to that of Yokohama Shopping Diary: post-apocalyptic yet peacefully idyllic.
I bet you wouldn't say the same thing if you at least aware that Sora No Woto spawned from Kannagi instead of K-on.
Then again, I'm glad I watch, enjoy and love those three shows. Three is better than two/one afterall.
That reminds me... I should watch Kannagi. Been putting it off for no reason at all.
No. It doesn't change the fact that the character art is identical to K-On, a style that honestly doesn't fit this particular anime. I'd say the same thing even if Sora no Woto was spawned from Fist of the North Star, Bambi and Terry Gilliam's Brazil combined, and let's throw every Sam Peckinpah movie and the Nazca Lines in for good measure. In fact, any possible predecessor that goes further and further away from K-On, Kannagi or anime in general - and closer to the absurd - would only beg the question of why the character art is identical to K-On to begin with.
Having watched the first two eps I'm rather glad I did. I really enjoyed it, not like that K-On crap. ¬¬
Silly /a/non, or whatever the fuck they call themselves on /a/
wee/a/boo?
/a/ssholes
Strike Witches, K-on, and now Sora no Woto, I didn't really enjoy strike witches nor k-on and i doubt ill enjoy sora no wota :p
I find this hard to believe considering your avatar.
LOL, TY ICY! Finally someone realizes that all those animes suck. Didn't even bother watches Sora no Woto, cuz it looked like K-ON!(Which was fucking crap.)
Yea.. right. Afterall anime is all about character designs and look-a-likes, huh?
Be sure to watch it though. It has far more the feel of Haibane Renmei than either of the other two.
The art is K-On-like... but that's as deep as it goes. This one has a story. Also... the only resemblance to Strike Witches is skin-depp also.
With that comment, you have earned my respect.
Shame it's misguided in this instance.
Never judge a book by it's cover, as they say.
You've gained the respect of one anon, but lost it from many others.
