Oekaki, a genre of illustration taking place entirely on Internet forums, has inspired innumerable artists to create all manner of artistic creations, ranging from beautiful to erotic.
For those not familiar withお絵描き / oekaki, literally “drawing” or “doodle,” a brief explanation may be in order.
Oekaki in this context refers to a popular genre of BBS incorporating relatively unsophisticated paint programs into the site using Java or similar, where visitors can share and discuss their works in near real time.
The works produced can range from scribbles to masterpieces, and the distinctive rough, pixelated look characteristic of the format forms a style unique unto itself. Some artists specialise in the genre, and odd oekaki creations from famous artists often surface.
Both in Japan and internationally, such boards are most popular, with a wide variety of features and communities in evidence.
A selection of some of the best follows:
Many thousands more interesting oekaki images reside on the Channel, in their original PNG format.

You're typing English right? I can't even understand what your second paragraph means.
There's also really no need for self censorship. You can say "bitches" on this site, lol.
I'm not even sure he was censoring himself. :o Wtf was he typing?
Don't drink and type, the alcohole always hits you in the second paragraph.
...Or the second part of your sentence >_>
Don't drink and type, the *alcohole* always hits you in the second paragraph.
If these were drawn by mouse then I think we all pretty much fail at life. :/
You know that tablets exist right? I found one for only 60$. I imagine a lot of these guys have one of around that quality too, you don't need an expensive one for this stuff honestly.
Trust me trust me trust me. Artists are often have to look for cheep things because so much of what they do costs money.
hmmm... the situation might be different in japan though, what with a market for hentai images and stuff. They might actually make a decent amount. -shrug-
wow, handmade porn nice
And traps...
Traps are the spice in life.
It's just too bland without any.
lol at the brain traps....the worse of all.
While quite impressive, somehow it saddens me.
Also, LOLI BOWLING!
Cherry Girls is EPIC
but Loly Bowling MOAR EPIC
Wow traps everywhere... though some are interesting! VERY INTERESTING! :D
more of #25 ;)
83 is HAWT!,93 is good to :P
I definitely lol'd more than a few times at this gallery. #2 is a trap though D=
This is honestly one of the most interesting and creative galleries thus far. Some of these pics are absoultely incredible in art and concept. Rei is by far my favorite, followed by Luigi.
Many of these dont even look like they've been drawn with the small programs in browsers
fap fap fap fap fap fap
I agree! Though I think they're just good at masking it. I've been in a Paint Chat (basically multiplayer oekaki) with a pro before and she made something pretty amazing! http://petite-emi.deviantart.com/art/Lady-Kraken-119623320
It's hard to believe that she was using the same software I was. All I could do was a crappy little scribble of a guy with a hat.
wonderful gallery loled at 32
If I could, I wouldn't bowl any other way. Even if you lose, you win! lol
Loli bowl is my new favorite sport!!!!
Can wait for the international league broadcast!!!!!
#32 is so wrong in many ways ... but still, lol
Love the Chuugakusei vs Kuma one LOL.
Some of these are relevant to my interests
12 is great.
Its GUNDAM:).
38 with cat is nice. i mean nice pussy.
And 111 is wtf. Simply lol.
BTW Big robot versus naked girls always win.
Becoze when you have great robot you can always get girl on ride.
Yeah that was absolutely wtf indeed. LOL
I noticed most drawings are lolis or high school girls. Does it say something about otakus?
Chugakusei vs Kuma
LOL!
Have to make a Mugen out of that...
There are some good artist but am no fan of pixelated art.
I wonder how come some avoided having that pixelated look. Loved the Rei one. Some nice looking lolis also.
BTW Artefact you must do something so the pages on the channel would load a little faster. Oh! and and changes made things look more complicated. We can't see the last page and we have to scroll down for an image to appear and the worst we have to do it for the next page number to appear on the left side of the page. Practicality is importand you know.
Since you apparently haven't worked out that by clicking the "enabled" link in the sidebar you can turn the whole system off at will you'll forgive me if I don't take your criticism too seriously.
I fail to see how scrolling the page down to see more pictures is more complicated than clicking a paginator link and then scrolling down to the next paginator and repeating ad nauseam, but for the above reason let us not delve into that.
An indication of the total number of images and progress going through them is a very good idea though, we will take that into consideration.
"We"? Of how many ppl are you?
More than one? Is that not the meaning of "we"?
Artefact are however many he needs to be for whatever shit reason he wants. This site is awesome, so Artefact gets benefits.
Most of those BBS applications feature a brush tool, which has anti-aliasing.
I actually reached for the scrollbar on #40 ^_^''
Amazing, how talented these people are! One of the best galleries yet!
I dunno.. it's high in creative content or something like that.
wow, some of these are really impressive.
Oh god I lold at bowling loly so hard!
vagina bowling FTW
These Japanese artists do more with a mouse and "unsophisticated paint programs" than 99% of American fanartists with a pencil and Photoshop.
I got Photoshop, a Mac, and a Wacom -- the brand names in digital art.
And almost all of these arts, especially the pixelly stuff, still put me to shame.
You realize that there's such a thing as a tablet, and that there are plug-ins to allow pressure sensitivity on oekaki? Also, while oekaki is not nearly as advanced as photoshop, it does have layers, brushes, overlays, and so on. "Unsophisticated paint program" is underestimating the applet. However, I guess it would be unknown to most people that there are "hidden" (more like lesser known) capabilities in oekaki. Such as how if you click around, it looks like there are only three or four brush types, but if you left click you realize that there are over ten that are completely customizable.
It's a shame if some of these people draw for a living and get underpaid.
The bowling one made me lol :3
Krang saves the day! (pic 111)
Krang one was hilarious +5
I luv this
