An anonymous post apparently calling for a mass gathering of exhibitionists on Tokyo’s trains prompted a massive police response, with 60 officers crowding the threatened station, but nobody came.
The post exhorted readers to a mass act of indecent exposure: “Let’s board the Yamanote line without putting on any trousers! Everyone gather at Otsuka station at 10AM!”
Upon hearing this threat to public order, local police assembled a huge force of 60 officers to secure the modest station, but were disappointed to find not a single exhibitionist in attendance.
The incident has left many wondering whether there are not more important matters demanding police attention.
Others point out that “boarding a train without putting any trousers on” could just refer to wearing a skirt or shorts…
