Loli vampire anime Dance in the Vampire Bund has secured an overwhelmingly positive response, without even having to lean on the crutch of naked young girls being probed by matrons.
Even those with low expectations for the series found it to their liking, suggesting the series may have a promising future.
The naked loli BDSM present in the manga is apparently still a way off.
The response from the English reading/speaking audience hasn't been too warm. Not very fond of the novel way that Shaft introduced the series it seems. Many wanted a more straight forward delivery, calling this episode "filler". Ouch.
It's simply becoz some people don't appreciate the realism, esp. if they're not used to the Japanese variety show culture. For the Japanese, it was convincing, it really felt that the vampires are showing themselves to society.
Shaft did a great job in highlighting the tiny details that variety shows usually have. Kudos to Shaft!
It was by far the worst first EP of any anime I have ever seen... I can't believe anyone has something positive to say for this (other than loli fans maybe). :|
For god's sake, how can no one see how horrible that vampire dude at the end was? Cliched to the extreme, complete with horrible dialogue and typical expressions. And up until that point it was just boring rambling (I have noting against too much talking in anime or movies, as long as it's done right...).
I mean was this supposed to be a comedy?? I mean it sure seemed to me to be trying hard to be one! Then I got confused about that towards the end...
Not even enough good fanservice to redeem it, other than the bounciness at 16 minutes or so in (not to mention inflation... i mean yeah someone pointed out she had big ones, i mean of course someone HAS to point it out as we cant see that for ourselves :P, but they deffinately werent that big before then. Still I dont mind it at all.)
well, at least now i understand why QB got so much flak compare to this, anime otaku either dont know jack shit, or I'm crazy :P (or maybe it was because anime success is proportionate to the main female character cup size, smaller ones = more successful anime, lol)
well, that was my opinion... I'll just quietly wait for Quaser now.
watched the first episode yesterday and i found it great, the story takes a little bit to begin but this anime looks really promising.
Been really looking forward to see what it would be like eventually and i wasn't disappointed at all by the result
so KyoAni aren't the only ones anymore to do 'turn-off' first episode, huh ?
still, I'm surprised that some people liked this episode while everybody says shit about Haruhi's (which WAS actually great) and Lucky Star's first episode
I don't know about that.. I absolutely hated Haruhi's first ep, just like this crap. But I learned my lesson long ago, and always watch at least two eps of something that seems like it's just trolling.
well, Haruhi's first episode showed brillantly everything you shouldn't do when making an amateur movie, with awesome animation and lulz. Plus, though you can only notice this point later, it got lot of hints about the plot of the serie. Honestly, I loved it after 5 minutes of watching (but I'm into amateur movie, that helps)
as for Vampire Bund... here it was obviously trolling people watching the show indeed
I thought the first episode was good. It was a perfect parody of Japanese prime-time TV shows... except you're thinking LOL vampires ARE real the whole time.
I'm sure the rest of the series will fail to be as creative.
Well I just watched the first episode and I thought it was a pretty ok episode. Looks promising really.
I haven't read about the manga and I don't really care if it doesn't follow the manga. Ga-rei: Zero is a complete original and I liked it better than the manga. =/
Like a lot of people i found the first half of the episode boring and the second half laughably bad. The oppai bouncing scene was the most out of place ecchi I've ever seen in an anime, and that as well as other scenes made me wonder if it was really suposed to be a light hearted comedy series, especially with those light hearted ending credits after the supposedly scary ending. It's strange to me that the manga pics make it seem a lot more serious and scary. If the rest of the anime actually goes in the manga's direction, although it probably would become better, it's just not for me either way.
I hear this is supposed to be a filler episode. WTF? Starting an anime series off with filler? The first episode should set the tone of the rest of the series, shouldn't it? It should interest and draw in viewers to stick around for the following episodes.
I wish people would stop marking down everyone who says they weren't impressed with this.
I honestly wasn't, and I'm confused as to what people were actually 'delighted' by. The episode was mostly boring through the first half, although it was unique at least, and then all of a sudden it just turned lame. (I rolled my eyes at the ridiculously stupid 'transformation'. I thought I was watching a cartoon based on a marvel comic for a second.
Maybe things will be better in the next episode, so there - I'm stil giving it a chance, aren't I?
I don't see why, though. If you look at the otherwise very detailed drawings of adult Mina (aka Milfa) from the manga, you will see that she has no trace of external genitalia.
Whats up with people criticising K-on and bakemonogatari and like this boring shit.
OMG and the visuals. Everything about this wampire bund shit is bad.
the first episode was a big disappointment. half episode was a slide show of picture, with only the animation of the bitch's boobs.
then it became a earthquake loli vampire geass generic shit.
What was so enjoyable about a smug and lame gameshow parody reminding us that we're watching an anime that's about a loli vampire? I hope Shaft aren't going KyoAni on us after that overrated Bakemonogatari..
They should just seriously F*** off. I read through the petition and their reasoning is just as plausible as some half-baked conspiracy theory.
The women willingly... More
Though there aren't any topless loli action in ep.1 but shaft made it worth anticipating for the next episode.
Can't wait to see Mina in the top 10 anime girls of 2010. :3

First episode of Ladies versus Butlers was even better than this, and not only because of the fanservice, and that's saying a lot for Bund.........

I kinda like the first episode. Also, Mina Tepes = 2 in 1. A complete pakage. (if you've read the manga you know what I mean)
The first package alone is good enough (and doesn't need any other unnecessary form) for me :3

Heck! even that crap of LvsB fisrt episode was better than this.
I saw flame to this series in some forums because this episode didn't was adapted from the manga, is more like an episode 0.
I'm still pissed that Media Faggotry cock-blocked Amerikans.
I thought the first episode was good. It was a perfect parody of Japanese prime-time TV shows... except you're thinking LOL vampires ARE real the whole time.

don´t know why the character of this anime resembles to much to Rachel Alucard from BlazBlue, jajajajaja.
Gotta see this first chapter.
And it's funny that Rachel Alucard resembles to Shinku from Rozen Maiden as well.
Actually, when I first saw her I thought on that chain of resemblances.
This series is relevant to my interests.
Well I just watched the first episode and I thought it was a pretty ok episode. Looks promising really.

Positive response in Japan, maybe.
Positive response from American otaku? Not a chance.
i'm pretty sure it's meant to air in Japan.

It's only the start of the year, but I can see her as one of the favorites of 2010 lol
loli-vampire sounds interesting!
loli-vamp >>>>>>>>>>>> sparkling vamp
Lic lac la lac lilac...
I see what you did there
Vampire gynecology is intense.
I don't see why, though. If you look at the otherwise very detailed drawings of adult Mina (aka Milfa) from the manga, you will see that she has no trace of external genitalia.
Funny, that. Loli genitalia is rendered in more detail than adult genitalia.
Whats up with people criticising K-on and bakemonogatari and like this boring shit.
OMG and the visuals. Everything about this wampire bund shit is bad.
I loved it.
The only thing I dislike is the word "bund" :)
Thank you for the replies, both of you. That actually helps the show a bit for me.
Bund is a German word meaning federation, league or group.
Bund is also an Urdu word meaning an embankment, and now often means a bank or levee surrounding reclaimed land.
It's clever how the concept allows for both meanings, so Mina will establish her bund in the bund.
placing her bund in a bund where she can sit her bun? Wait, wait...
The first 10 minutes were slightly boring but funny
the next 5 minutes had me on the edge of my seat
I nearly crapped myself during the last minutes
It may have been a filler but an awesome filler it was
all hail the loli vampire queen!!
Twilight + Sanzein Nagi = Fail
no.
the first episode was a big disappointment. half episode was a slide show of picture, with only the animation of the bitch's boobs.
then it became a earthquake loli vampire geass generic shit.
Its a cool manga but not hentai
Srly no one gets shaft
I had the impression that everyone gets shafted by them.
people actually liked the opening episode? i could hardly sit through it
Top waifu of 2010 candidate <3
edit: And damn you hair, you shouldn't block her armpit..
I prefer the president of the student council.
Why not have both? Do it like Sugisaki. Harem is the answer!
Indeed
What was so enjoyable about a smug and lame gameshow parody reminding us that we're watching an anime that's about a loli vampire? I hope Shaft aren't going KyoAni on us after that overrated Bakemonogatari..
I found the first episode pretty boring actually. I ended up skipping about the first half of it.
It was super boring. I cant believe Shinbo directed this. I am going to look it up cause it doesn't look like a pure Shaft work...
Liar.
