    Most of these girls appear to just be wearing clothing that is too tight and not properly fitted. I would hardly call most of them "chubby".

    Agree with anon above, most are not chubby at all. My girlfriend has more fat on her than 80% of these girls and she's considered average weight for her height and gender.

    i like japan's definition of chubby. my eyes started to glaze over while thinking of wisecracks about the last pic. when my eyes refocused i realized that there was a guy underneath the beast on the mattress. #65 is an optical illusion, sorta. you just gotta look at their arms.

    Barely any of these girls are chubby, and I'm sorry to those of you who think an ideal woman should weigh under 100 pounds, I would be too worried about breaking a woman who weighed that much during just normal activities... like hand shaking, or passing her the remote. It's my personal belief that a real woman has some weight to her.

    no idea about how things are now, but back when i went to high school in asia most girls in the class (or the school, for that matter) would rather skip meals than go past 45kgs (99 pounds for you guys), especially since there was the annual height/weight examination we all had to do in front of the everybody at the nurse's office...
    anyone whose arms showed even a little bit of meat was dubbed 'fat' -- a friend of mine who came from the states even had people say to her face that she should lose some weight (for an american, she was on the slim side)

    Different cultures have different standards for "chubby". If this was a gallery of chubby American girls then they would most likely be much fatter. In Japan, these woman would be considered chubby compared to an average Japanese woman but if they came to America then they would be considered average size.

    Precisely. Japanese women are on average slimmer than their American or European counterparts.

    As far as idols are concerned, these are all on the "heavy" side, and the only step above this in the world of idols/AV is definite niche fetish territory (what would be called "BBW" or "obese" internationally).

    When I went to Japan they didn't seem slimmer than central EU girls (but sure slimmer than average US girls). This gallery is still on the slim side of average Japanese population (except for tits ;p).
    Sure idols are like our models, so I understand that is hard to find a lot that are chubby.
    Is just when I read chubby I expected chubby girls, not fit girls (=fat idols)

    Well, they're chubby considering the usual model standards.
    Based on what I saw in Japan, the Japanese are definitely thinner that people here in the southern US, but that's not to say that I didn't see any fat people. Hell, I saw quite a few people that made me feel pretty damn skinny.

    It's not just in Asia. Women pretty much everywhere are subjected to these standards daily. Have any of you guys ever flipped through a fashion magazine? Most Western models are Crazy tall and Unhealthily thin. And more so than by men, women are judged constantly by other women. Women are conditioned into thinking what's an expected body image and then enforce that view on their peers.

    Wasn't it here (maybe it was on photoshop disasters) that had the article about the model who was fired for being 'too fat' after her agency shopped one of her last shoots and it looked so horrendous, she looked sickly and alien.
