The cartoonist whose satirical drawing of Mohammed caused him to be vilified by Muslims the world over has been the subject of an Islamically inspired assassination attempt; he escaped death, though his assailant was shot several times by police.
Kurt Westergaard’s depiction of Mohammed, published in a Danish newspaper in 2005, infuriated Muslims the world over, with many demanding that Denmark censor the cartoons.
Dozens were killed in violent protests against the “blasphemous” caricatures, and Danish embassies throughout the Islamic world were attacked.
The religion of peace soon inspired numerous fatwa against Westergaard, and a million dollar bounty was placed on his head.
Westergaard was driven into hiding but defiantly emerged years later, albeit under heavy police protection.
However, this proved useless as a 28-year-old Somali Islamist was able to break into his home with a knife, vowing to kill him.
Westergaard fled to a panic room with his infant granddaughter and summoned his police guardians, who apprehended the assassin; he resisted arrest and was shot in the knee and shoulder by police. His injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
Police previously arrested three Muslim immigrants for plotting to kill Westergaard, but this is the first time he has been bodily attacked.
Danish intelligence reports the assassin was known to be a member of a violent Islamist group thought to have ties to al-Qaeda, and was already under surveillance for his other activities; doubtless they will have some interesting questions to answer regarding how he was able to attempt his crime despite this.

The quotes exist, and like anything, can be taken multiple ways. The important thing is, there is nothing the West can do to change the beliefs and force Islam to evolve. Sura '4'? I assume it's Sura An-Nisa v.89. Which is this:

Fact: most Muslims live outside the Arabic peninsula. Most Muslims don't speak Arabic. Most Muslims just recite the Arabic verses verbatim in prayers and Quran recitals (better read, recite, not read). Most Muslims don't know jack squat what is it that they're uttering every day.

Most of the countries outside the Arabic peninsula have Arabic schools to learn Arabics, u know lol. Well, I'm not sure about Singapore, though. It's not so much as defending as not letting translations such as "to kill anyone who is not a muslim or wont convert." be the end-all-of-discussion. Here's a better translation for Surath Al-Baqarah and notice the difference (I-I'm not sure if I should explain myself more here since you're also a Muslim. You finish Ugama school, right? Otherwise it'd be too long of an explanation and you and me will get bored real fast). There are other translations that have the words and meanings properly explained (example, who 'them' was. Remember that the Quran is in itself abit 'clunky') but I don't want this to become a rambling lol. It already is but I'll make it shorter if I can.
189. They ask you (O Muhammad ) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back but Al-Birr (is the quality of the one) who fears Allah. So enter houses through their proper doors, and fear Allah that you may be successful.
190. And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors.

I don't think that full "context" (or asbab al-nuzul, if you want) helps the case. That is a violent passage sir.
But to be fair, the Quran *does* have forgiving passages. Everyone raised in a Muslim household knows this, because they're more popular. However, does this make the Quran forgiving? Well, maybe not so much. This makes it contradictory. Funny thing is, if you examine the context, most forgiving passages were from Meccan suras, where Mohammed preached more carefully as to not lose his life. Whereas the more violent ones were revealed in Medina, when he had power already could decapitate anyone getting in his way. Coincidence?
And yeah, they have Arabic schools. I studied Arabic too like most people. I also quit after knowing how say "there's a plate on the table" in Arabic. Like most people. So no, these people still don't know Arabic.
