Star Ocean 4 International Embraces Anime

The PS3 release of ero-RPG Star Ocean 4 has opted to utilise some strange cartoon-like illustrations for its cover, a reversal of its previous decision to downplay such designs in favour of generic sci-fi starscapes and CG characters.

Almost all of the character irritated me so much that i almost everyone dead at the end! (except for boobylicious elf girl)

Maybe they got a lot of complaints.
They should either release the international version on 360, give the PS3 owners the same game, OR release the international features on Xbox Live.
This game was the REASON I had to suffer a red ring of death because it wasn't released on PS3.
This version feels like a kick in the balls, thanks Square Enix!
Oh 360 damn beta testing machine, well atleast it still holds the CAVE shmups as exclusive I cannot wait for ESPGALUDA II.
Actually I like both country's box art and do not care about what some stupid icon looks like.

skipped this one when it came out on 360 because i was broke and now i am glad i waited. i am quickly getting spoiled by PC/PS3 graphics and, ya know, not having to worry about my system taking a shit halfway through the game. KUDOS! also, the US PS3 cover is definitely the most win.

Who cares about the box art. That doesn't define how good a game is.
I don't think anyone says the game sucks because the box art sucks I know for me personally I love collecting the boxes as much as I do playing the games and if the box art looks horrible it dampens my fun a bit.
We'd much rather have attractive boxart than generic, ugly boxart.

They're trying to cater the boxart to their fanbase according to system and region.
1. US PS3: Anime fanboys - ooh pretty anime!
2. JP PS3: See #1
3. EU PS3: Europe?!? Maybe they like anime, or maybe they like CG? Bah, let's play it safe and show them nothin.
4. US 360: Hates anime and hates women.
5. EU 360: See #3
6. JP 360: Srsly Hardcore. Will buy even if it's a picture of a turd with Star Ocean title slapped on.

Well, given all the complaints that pop up when they pointlessly change the art, I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone actually at least TRIED listening to them...
I don't see the big deal. The US cover looks fine. The star-scape looks nice and it's only edge's silhouette. The cover I can live without the anime, but anime face pics in battle would have been better.
Europe should learn how to whine better, though.
Kinda disappointing that the graphics, however, are still CG. When I tried this game at a friends house, the character models in cut-scenes looked like emotionless sex dolls.
Bring me some gorgeous cel-shaded games any day!

Just remember to finish most of quests in the first playthrough.
Did you mean NOT to finish any quests in the first playthrough, especially everything related to Anmalchia keys? Because unless you do that, you can't do a 100% in the second playthrough.

the jap xbox cover looks the best to me
pretty box art won't help you sell more,
but fugly box art will definitely deter the people on the fringe thinking about buying.

Shame the story/characters will still suck. Atleast we can switch out the horrible English dub thats atleast some improvement.

THEY are so fucking scared that the cover WONT make a game sell....
...so they dont even show us what the character looks like? How do i know if he's cool badass swordsman or a homo with a vibrator? Is the chick he's with bangable or does she need a bag?
I dunno i can't even see them they are in a dark room with bright lights all around yet i can't see the characters. FAIL.
character is all RPG have. the battle system yeah but if you hate the characters you wont play. and not showing what the characters are is pretty weak and shows you dont think it will sell even though you are SELLING it.
Its like selling a hawt car but you can only see its outline. What color is it? Leather interior? Wood paneling? NOPE you just trust me this car kicks ass. just look at that DARKENED OUTLINE OHHHHHH. But dont test drive it - just BUY the car for $60 and see its awesome.
