Otaku fans of virtual schoolgirl dating sensation Love Plus have been treated to a set of festive Love Plus Christmas events, dubbed “Plus-mas.” Cakes and cards from the girls, and even AR Christmas cards, have all proven hugely popular…
Otaku queued for hours in the December chill to get a special cake “from” the girls (limited to 100 only, from 3 different Tokyo shops), with the cakes sold out completely before the shops even opened:
The cake even came with a special AR (augmented reality) card, enabling otaku to get even closer to their virtual brides:
Konami has struck gold it seems…
soon enough, they’ll have 1/1 scale AR cards
I wanna go get a cake!
Damn it, living in Japan sure is awesome…
A while ago in these comments someone mentioned yu-gi-oh AR….
When people play yu-gi-oh like normal, they play a simple card game, with pictures of monsters, information and stats, on nothing but plastic cards, with the point of eliminating the opponents defences, then attacking their opponents directly, dealing damage to “hit points”…
but with AR, a computer with a web camera, something like a normal DSI, and then if each card has a uniquely identifying, easily recognised symbol, then the company behind yu-gi-oh could make a program for the computer, or DSI, that shows the little monsters coming out of the cards and then shows them Fighting each other, for the amusement of the players…
If a company can make thousands of little plastic cards for near to no cost, then sell them on for a lot, then make a little program to show little monsters coming out of the cards and fighting, they might actually make a lot of money…
wtf this has to happen after i come back from japan 3 weeks ago.
As if you’d make it, or even know about it.
