Otaku Force Mangaka Offline Over Second-Hand Shoujo

good-ending-second-hand-shoujo-manga.jpg

Otaku incensed at a mangaka’s decision to portray a heroine as being a non-virgin have launched a campaign of harassment which has seen the writer forced to close her blog, reporting that she is “heart-broken” over their hateful attacks.

The mangaka in question, Sasuga Kei (real name Keiko Sasaki), currently writes “G.E. Good Ending,” a popular love comedy serialised in Shonen Magazine.

However, she made the mistake of portraying a “dojikko” character (Shou Iketani) as ending up with kiss-marks on her neck after an amorous encounter in the back of a car – fans complained that for this formerly prim and proper girl to be sexually involved with someone was an outrage, with 2ch spewing forth such criticisms as:

“Honestly, we just can’t idolise a heroine who isn’t a virgin.”

“In a shonen manga it’s weird to have a romantic manga with so little idealisation.”

A subsequent flood of comments to her blog, most harshly critical, led to the mangaka closing her site, saying “I just don’t have the confidence to continue with my site.”

This is of course not the first time the depiction of a girl enjoying normal sexual relations has sent otaku into a rage at having their fantasies of de-virgination shattered…

lol notice how they always pick on female mangaka, reverse tsundere = otaku, oh god no.

On a serious note, fuck them, although i i hope they see the boundary to an extent a virgin heroine is good because of the fact you get to see the main guy deflower them, but if it's just general, then it's loonacy. I mean Louise is my waifu, but im rooting for saito for that pussy.

It sounds more like they voiced their personal opinions rather than forcing her to change it or stop her work. It's quite different than Equality Now using political pressure to force others into submission.

I pretty much just scanned through a few chapters of that manga...

    Whos a virgin in it...?

Oh well, didn't really seem like an interesting story, typical "Oh the girl that I like saws me with another girl who likes me but im not into her but later on I feel that maybe I like her but then that girl that I thought didn't like me likes me and now I suicide..."

    Only, genders reversed sometimes..

Oh and some girl gets raped, though its not shown...

they do have their rights to express but it's in the fan's right to criticize and rage at the author. they're the consumer and if the product changes halfway while on subscription, and it's not on par with prior releases, then that's their right. the author either stick with it and hope time invested returns profit or drops it and moves on.

Bullshit. Many authors are harassed and still do fine work.....ever hear of Salman Rushdie? This "author" is just an idiot and offering further proof why women should not get involved in business. Harden up and write what you want or GTFO. There is no room in this world for any creators who give a shit about the criticisms of others.

I get that some people idolize the whole innocent and untouched 'pure' characters. But I find it far more refreshing when a character ends up surprising us by being maybe a little experienced. Possibly making them a deeper character and maybe even more relate-able. especially when they're a good or main character.
But then most of these otaku fanboiz wouldn't possibly be able to relate to someone who's had experience with another person.

Failures love to agree with each other to validate themselves.
That said, otaku hate non-virgins not because they are deflowered, but because they now have no chance whatsoever to deflower them themselves. They want to draw pics/write fanfiction/imagine that they have a chance to have sex and be the first with the characters of manga and anime.

I get it, but then I also prefer a virgin for a heroine. It shows she has some forebearance. I like virgins because they're uncommon in the real world, and have an air of humility about them, which to me, is pretty respectable.

Virginity in women is a surreal concept nowadays, so I can see why it might be sought after in escapism.

Still, that's no reason to harass the poor girl. Let her write the story she wants to write.

"But don't you want a non-virgin heroine for a change?"

I've got all the non-virgins a man could want.

I'm up to my ears in non-virgin women.

I'm surrounded by real-life women, and if I decide they probably don't have STDs, I can bang them.

But I don't idealize them. They are not heroines; they are one-night-stands.

A heroine has to do something heroic.

Personally, I think I might as well go for a heroine who *never* has *any* sex and does heroic things like killing dragons or something, because sex is boring. My fantasies can deal with slaying dragons - sex is just another sordid detail of real life.

Where did this "amourous encounter in the back of a car" crap even come from? This never happened. Besides that, does having a hickie mean you aren't a virgin? I'm pretty sure everyone's definition of virgin says not having had sexual intercourse, and the last time I checked A hickie is not sex. Backtracking a bit now, the manga never even says if it really was a hickie. In fact, the manga points more in the direction of it NOT being a hickie. The protaganist over reacts about things and says himself it might not be a hickie.

I know this response was a month late, but yeah, having a hickie (it was quite clearly a hickie) doesn't mean you got laid. That's not how sex works.

The thing about the amorous encounter in the back of a car? It was from a fanservice cover page that's not canonical, and the heroine was directing her proposition towards the reader.
