Michael Moore would expect everyone to chose death. That expectation is extreme because it holds everyone at the cost of individual wants. That's not very 'American' isn't it?

how does he have a point? going to a maid cafe and whipping out trite contextless statements doesn't automatically equal having a point. i wish more people realize that before jumping on Moore's bandwagon.

Makes me wonder how if he tells servers at restaurants that they can't serve him because everybody is equal. Essentially it is the same thing, the girls at the Maid Cafe get paid + tips. They are just waitresses, in America we wear uniforms, and at some place they call out to everyone who enters as well (like "hey welcome to CiCi's"). The maid cafe's are the same just with a little extra push on the themes.

Most people WOULD find Akihabara quite bizarre, it would be much stranger were he to actually enjoy the place.

I think Michael Moore is a bit of a provocateur. He has some valid political views, but to sell his documentaries and get his view out, he speaks his mind in an extreme way to get attention. I don't really have any feelings for or against him, but, I wouldn't take him as a zealot so much as he's a shrewd political player and businessman.

Micheal Moore...mmhm, I'm not only wondering WHY he went to a maid cafe in the first place (deliberately looking to cause trouble..or hypocrite?) but whether or not seeing them in his oh-so-favorite maid uniform made him too anxious to say anything other than a seemingly cliche line so as to get another waiter. These latest quotes, in particular, are pretty cliché and lame, which suggests (to me at least) a total lack of effort and conviction.

I would love to believe that everyone is equal. But, while it is a nice romantic idea to sell to children (thus inspiring them to aim for the stars), it's simply not true. People are not, and never have been, of equal value. Your value against that of the heir to a billion dollar fortune, is obviously not equal. A handicapped child's value next to a atheletic prodigy is not equal (unless the handicapped child is a genius, at which roles reverse).

From that article is not made clear if he really had a problem with Akihabara and those comments may be nothing more than general comments who don't show that he thought bad of the place.
