It was my birthday on the 25th! We're practically twins. Except for the fact that there's a 2 day difference, our age difference, and she's a fictional character. But other than that we're twins.

seriously what is WRONG with celebrating an anime character's birthday??

it's like people celebrating their anniversaries, they're all intangible things, and celebrating the anime character is more a symbol for celebrating the hard work/ good ideas/ effort put in to make the character that we all like!

anyway, it's just putting a cake/snacks in front of a character's picture and taking a photograph, HOW BAD IS THAT?

i'd do it and then EAT the cake i boughtXD no waste, little effort and NO BIG DEAL.

Celebrating birthdays and holidays with specifically championed 2d girls (aka waifus) has been going on for years and years. True otaku already spend thousands on anime merchandise; what's the harm in getting like a little $10 cake or something to show how much you care about your waifu? This kind of stuff shows up on 2ch all the time.

If you seriously don't get that people do this kind of stuff just for fun and to post online (or even fake-compete to see who treats their waifu the best), then you truly lack the understanding of otaku culture that I'd assume would be pre-requisite here, and have the all-clear to GTFO normalfags. You are not welcome here not because you are "normal", but because you refuse to even attempt to understand abnormal people, and yet think that running with the majority opinion is always the best idea. It's not, rather it's sheer idiocy and ignorance at its peak.

Every time I come here and read articles like this is bothers me to realize how utterly ordinary I actually am, regardless of how hard I try to be weird.

It's nice to like a character in a show, but this would be a bit weird even if Yui was a real person.

This sort of behaviour should be restricted to little girls having tea parties with their dollies.
