Manga to Anime 70% Approve, Manga to Movie 35% Approve

When asked in a survey whether they approved of manga to anime adaptations, some 70% approved. However, half that number, 35%, approved of the fraught process of adapting a manga to a live action movie.
The survey found that against the 68.5% of respondents who approved of manga to anime adaptations, only 35.2% approved of manga to film conversions.
Those who saw anime adaptations from manga, which some 95% reported watching in the case of their favourites, gave such reasons for their approval as “It’s possible to see the work from another angle,” “I wanted to see it animated” and “It increases the number of fans.”
Those unhappy with these adaptations made such complaints as “The voices differed to my image of them” and “A manga worldview is hard to convey through anime.”
People who approved of movie adaptations gave such reasons as “It’s possible to enjoy the casting choices,” and “It can promote a title to a wider audience.”
On the other hand, those who detested such efforts voiced such complaints as “The cast felt out of place,” “They often don’t treat the image of the original work properly” and “There’s a limit to what you can express in film.”
Concerns about the quality of live action movies adapted from anime, manga and games seem to be universal, yet their continued success seems assured…

so while movies may not be good at live action manga adaptations, drama series are very good at it.
And I haven't seen the LA Yuria 100 Shiki yet but it looks awesome in a very cheesy way.
How about Gokusen? All I'm sure, I'm not going to put Detective Conan there... I mean, the kids look awkward lip syncing the original seiyuu lines instead of talking in their own voice..

Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge was also a pretty decent live-action adaptation.

Can't blame people for not approving live action adaptions they tend to suck most the time. Although I did think the DMC movie was quite good.
20th century boys wasnt bad. then again it wasnt done by hollywood so thats probably the reason.

Considering how some anime to movie adaptations turned out(Dragonball Evolution for example) I'm not surprised by the low approval rate such adaptations have.
Watching your favorite characters come to life with animations is truly a gift i am grateful for.

azumi was based of a manga and that was a good movie cuz azumi was hawt also max payne based off the game was alrite also death note japanese verison was good but smart people like Square enix do there movies in 3d

Those pictures up there... I'd definately say the lower part of the 2D, and the upper part of the 3D. The 2D face is so Western-"Manga"-distorted it's not even funny.

Everything can have it's downsides. You should probably stick with your chosen form of enjoyment for any series. I rarely read manga so it's hard for me to have problems where the voices don't match up.
Trick is to read the manga the anime was based on -after- watching the anime. The manga is usually better, so there's less chance of being disappointed.
