A huge nest of hornets responsible for a wave of terror and one death was assaulted by army units in a bid to annihilate it.
The gigantic hornet nest, 1.6m wide and situated out of reach up a tree, had recently been responsible for numerous hornet attacks, including one fatality, and was forcing many villagers to take lengthy detours if they wished to avoid being stung.
With the local fire brigade unable to fell the tree due to the nearby buildings, an urgent call for assistance was made, and it was answered by a nearby PLA reconnaissance battalion, who dispatched a squad armed with flamethrowers to the scene, complete with chemical warfare suits and anti-bee nets.
Two bursts from their flamethrowers reduced the nest to flaming mass of scorched insects.

I dont know if its been said but in America it is LEGAL in every state to own a flame thrower for pest control.
Rocks and Twigs = Fuck...
Pesticide = Meh...
Flamethrower = Fuck Yeah!
Rocket Launcher = Profit?
Gundam = *Meteor song plays*
Bahamut = OVERKILL!
kill a few hornets
start a forest fire
hmmm
Just so you know, flamethrowers are also a viable method to CONTROL forest fires.
Start small fires and burn all foliages around the path of the forest fire and you ensure no fuel to feed the advancing burning tide.
of all the things in china not to blow up
That's so cool.
Okay, that IS pretty cool..!
There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded mosquito. Or a nest of wounded chinese hornets.
EAST IS RED
EAST ON FIRE!
Now thats getting things done lolz.
whether it's bigass hornets or alien xenomorphs, a flame unit is usually the best answer.
finally chinese military suppresses something people want suppressed.
kill it with fire!!!!!
Best method ever.
That sounds like something that would be a skit on the old 'Home Improvement' TV series show. I am amazed China didn't call for an all out Nuclear Bomb attack to make sure all the hornets were disposed of.
Because hornets might survive a nuclear fallout.
But fire kills them no problem.
Nearby buildings? WTF, it's in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah, I call BS on this story... probably just a photo from a training activity.
But you can see the nest.
SCREW YOU, NATURE!
hell yeah, that's how it's done, son.
A hornet made a nest on my porch deck, and I don't have a problem with it. They mind their business, and I go about mine. Why kill something that only does what is in its nature, without knowledge of good and evil.
Because it's fun - and you get to use fire.
And, later when you are lamenting the death of a loved one from the hornets, do recall your words of compassion for nature.
It's super effective!!!
Critical hit!!!
Looking at a soldier using a flamethrower always makes me feel weird...
Does all western country armies have flamethrowers in their arsenal too ?
I mean, that's a really vicious weapon, and I don't quite see how it can be Geneva Conventions-compatible in a war context. OK, you can burn a forest down with it, but there's safer methods to do it.
ever played call of duty V?
Hot.
At least these guys have a reason to scorch it, unlike a police officer tasing a defenseless 10 yr old girl just for refusing a bath.
Flamethrower pest control? I could make a most lucrative business out of this.
OverKill +1
The Chinese will do whatever it takes to take down any threat to there country even Incects. They would send an Army after Mad Dog who has attack the local population.
hell yeah, that's how it's done!
China: Bad architecture, censorship, punching Tibetans, public nudity, and flamethrowers. I suppose it could be worse.
bitch please, thats not only In China. Ever heard of the spray and lighter anti-mosquito gun?
If the flamethrower failed they had a tactical nuke on standby.
Take dat, beetchies !!!
Y'know, there are many things which the chinese screw up.
But this. Is. AWESOME.
bitch please, thats not only In China. Ever heard of the spray and lighter anti-mosquito gun?
This reminds me of when my dad got pissed at a spider and shot it with a .45... He didn't like spiders...
Don't really see the problem here. It was 1.6 meters wide! (That's over 5 feet for you yanks)
No real subtle way of dealing with that.
almost like how i have tons of holes in my wall from when my tarantula escaped and i had to shoot it ( he didnt exactly like me)
I thought the Chinese government only condoned that level of violence on buddhist monks.
This is CHINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA \o/
If there was a 2m nest on a tree in a city, there'll be the code red signal. Soldiers and tanks, along with all their advanced helicopters and jet planes gather in the city and evacuate everyone. Armed with the all-newest weaponry, they stand in a line as they preapared for the takedown of a hornets' nest.
Once the signal is given, soldiers fire their all-heavy machine guns and tanks fired. helicopters go rocket launchers and jet planes shoot missiles and take down the tree.
After 3 long hours, the nest was finally exterminated. Soldiers high-five with each other to commend on a job well-done. Unfortunately this 3-hour emergency situation caused half of the whole city to be destroyed..
... that's what I would like to see happen in China...
I once used a CO2 laser to kill a hornets nest.
Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-YOGAAAA FIIIIIREEEEE!
YOGA FLAME!
"Kill it with fire!"
stupid but effective
