"pushing the limits" or "Extreme xxx!" always ends up being lackluster when it's posted onto here..

In other words, this can only be "bad" news..

Nice to see actual quality when it comes to an anime adaption of Negima. Wish they were adapting the Festival arc as well, though.

Negima is Ken's breakthrough comic after the insane popularity of Love Hina, itself a copycat genre based off Rumiko's Mansion Ikkoku manga.

The best part about Negima is that while it had started as as generic harem manga, it has slowly evolved into something much, much more. It is now part epic fantasy, part sci-fi, and part adventure.

As such, it appeal to a much wider variety of audience, and bar its inevitably lip service to its echi harem roots, I would put it on the same level as One Piece and the like.

Its a coming of age story with adventure, excitement, and... LOVE!

I hate Akamatsu Ken just because of this series.
Love Hina was Ok on it's own but with the many useless alternative trashes for this series he proved that he run out of ideas and is just trying to hang on a bit more. Bad character designs too.

As a note, many of the character designs were NOT by Akamatsu but by a temporary assistant, who was FEMALE...

Many of these character designs may seem a bit bland and common on the outside but many have a much deeper personality if you actually read through the manga.

Chisame being someone who despises attention and pretty much hates being in her class due to the amount of overly positive energy happens to be a closet otaku known for her looks and cheer all over the internet. Used in every plot of course... *cough*

And the countless generic moeblobs that are churned out the ringer are better? Not to add the many tsundere's released upon otaku's in just the last 2 years. Generic and rehashed ideas may sound bad, but it works.

I see in a blog (forgot wich one) a discussion about the diference in Negi "calendary age" and the "real age" ... because of the planes with accelerated time he often uses (Eva´s resort, scroll, etc) to train he has lived more time and is no more a 11 year old... but people cant agree the real age on the discussion, saying between 12 - 14 yeads old.
    @Tentacles
Chisame-chan + Chachamaru ... my top 2 Negima Girls ftw!

Unlike with DBZ's time chamber this one just adds an extra day not year so i'd say he's 12 at the OLDEST including that lets say he used it for several months he would be several months older and if he used it for a year he's be 1 year older seeing as he's been at mahora for only about 1 year theres no way he's older than twelve at most especially since he's only been using it for 6 months at most. He was also 9 and 3 quarters when he started working at mahora not ten so add that in and he's just shy of being 12 if he did use it for 6 months straight if not he's just 11 physically.

Since the anime didn't continue the anime, too bad. Can't predict the future of the manga, can you?

If Mahou Sensei Negima was aired later, it could've stayed on track, but maybe the money ain't there for them. Lots of volumes to animate, eh.

Don't bother with the anime. It doesn't do the Love Hina manga justice.

Personally I prefer Love Hina because as a person who also buys certain manga, Negima was a drain on my wallet until I decided to just stop.

    Lol...'just fanservice' and 'crappy plot'.

It seems like you didn't even bother reading it at all. I've seen more character development and twists in this manga series than a lot of other shonen genre of manga out there. It's far less generic than say Naruto or Bleach that's for sure. The details involved in the art is very impressive. Considering Akamatsu genre was just love comedy but now has expanded to martial arts, sci-fi, adventure and theoretical conundrums. The action scenes are very well detailed.

If you really believe this is just fanservice plus very generic plot. You sure haven't seen Queen's Blade and ilk...

I've been following this since discovering the sweet joys of Marshmallow Hell-o, and this was expected by a lot of the fan base, especially those who follow the manga.

    Chisame-chan clothes-dissolving tentacle play? Yes please! ^^

And for those who don't read much Akamatsu Ken-penned work, Love Hina was just about as ecchi, along with A.I. ga Tomaranai, his first project.

Well, I think it could be interpreted as "A 'genre' is used to denote differences. If every manga becomes ecchi then mentioning it is useless".
Now, such a generalization wouldn't be wise.

That's why Negima is cool to read. I mean, seeing the anime(referring to Mahou Sensei Negima!) skipped a lot of stuff and stopped while the manga is still ongoing. Good stuff Ken produces too. It's definitely recommended to read it, imo.

Neo Negima is a lost case of fanservice though.
