Why do I find all of this funny? I mean, should I find it funny? It seems to be a sort of serious discussion about the anime's production value, yet... I can't help but laugh at it all. looool xD

it's a reference to "the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" by douglas adams. in ine of the later books, one of the characters owns a pod-shaped spaceship. it has the plates and everything. it's color is described as "darker than black...so dark that your eyes practically slide off it"

Pretty sure that this was done on purpose. Watch the scene, she talks about how things are changing and they focus on that vehicle

I thought darker than black's background was future, near or far. I thought hovering vehicle was odd, but it's not that far fetched. sci-fi anyone?

Couldn't it have been intentional? Putting in random things like that can help make a show better just as long as it's left for the viewer to notice and not shoved in our faces.

I didn't see the thing, but it surely took a few frames, I don't think that the animators were lunatic to not notice they added something which was even "rendered" into their product. Maybe it was intentional, maybe it IS NOT even a car.

Like a few have said, I think it was SUPPOSED to be a flying car. The scene where it pops up says something along the lines of "the future is now".
Only makes sense that in the fairly technologically advanced word DTB takes place in, the rich would have such a device.
If it WAS an error, then it'd be a pretty huge one considering it takes place right in the center of the scene. Not exactly something that could be overlooked.
I think it's just 2ch'ers with too much time on their hands trying to find faults that don't exist to increase their e-penis.

AHAHAHA I also think it was a mistake. If it were on purpose, they would at least make it bigger, right? A normal-sized human being could never fit in it.
