Well they do rip on just about everything...why not anime? i guess would be the answer.

I started anime with Vampire Hunter D, Lodoss War, and Tenchi.

In my opinion Love Hina sucks. If only because Naru is one of the biggest anime bitches of all time.

But my more hardcore viewing had to come since Lupin III on Adult Swim. Since then, I wanted to see more. I mean, Lupin was all sorts of awesome, and pretty damn hilarious.

Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon, and some more 'Mature' stuff thanks to the big brother and his friends.

We used to watch Sci-Fi's anime week when they first started and showed A-ko and some other cool one offs. (I remember Lily C.A.T. really well actually)

No nipples? I think you're thinking of pre-2000 stuff, with numerous girls who were Barbie-like in their lack of nipples and utterly featureless crotches.

Nowadays they're usually just more careful about positioning so that they could actually conceivably be hidden. Or they could just go ahead and show them, like Kallen's.

surely they now opt to make DVD sales-boosting stuff with all nipples but this stuff was surely still popular in early 2000s.

I think I had enough watching two fighters paused in the middle of their fight to talk about their past and agenda for 20 minutes only to finish it with a single quick flash slash. (And there we have ppl bitching about Bleach season 2 had too much dialogue instead of fighting)

i started with ninja scroll, dominion tank police, cyber city oedo, fist of the north star, urotsukidoji, guyver, vampire hunter d and monster city to name a few.

its hard to find anime like those today.
