Top 10 Shocking Secrets Your Lover Might Hide

watarase-jun-crossdressing-deception-by-kashiwamochi-yomogi.jpg

A survey reveals what Japanese men and women find the ten most shocking secrets their partner might harbour, with men evidently highly concerned about whether their partner is really a woman, and women concerned about the financial history of their partners…

The male ranking:

1. She used to be a man

2. She’s been declared bankrupt

3. She’s in debt

4. She’s had plastic surgery

5. She’s a former delinquent (“yankee”)

6. She has a mother complex

7. She’s a former gyaru (gal)

8. She’s lying about her age

9. She’s a groupie

10. She likes cosplay

The female ranking:

1. He’s been declared bankrupt

2. He’s in debt

3. He has a mother complex

4. He’s actually unemployed

5. He used to be a woman

6. He’s a groupie

7. He likes cosplay

8. He’s had plastic surgery

9. He’s a former crossdresser

10. He’s a former delinquent (“yankee”)

Bankrupt cosplaying transsexuals in awe of their mothers take note… Otaku however get off relatively lightly, coming in at number 13 on both lists.

They might have been given the same list of items and simply asked to rank them ;o But I'm too lazy to find out.

    pretty much
you just rank them in order of highest to lowest and then they tabulated all of them (highest getting the most points, lowest getting the least)
it was the same for previous polls

by the way, I notice there are a lot more surveys on Sankaku recently, most of them just say:"a recent survey from Japan"

so, what is the credibility of these survey? I can do survey like that myself pretty easily(or make up one if you like, lol), but there is a big ass difference between a survey done by a well know organization/university and some random people. A good survey should have more details than this, like demographic, age, what kind of people interviewed, ect

The legitimacy of all these polls have always put me into doubt about the sanity of the Japanese.

But since I was there a few years back, I noticed that them people love to read. I mean Read in great bucket fulls of absolutely everything. They have Weekly magazines (Full Sized) lining the shelves with a torrential pouring of opinions and essays about damn near anything crawling around those pages!

I don't know how most of those work, but I do know that polls forms and web-links are always in sight. Manga lives by the weekly poll on favorite stories and I've seen great starting series die due to it. They just never know what the fuck they like outside of tsudere lolitas.

Not to mention that most of those surveys show things that are pretty obvious already, like "money is God".

Good surveys should have as high test group as possible. A survey of 200 people hardly represents the minds of a 127M population...

These ones are based on results from a popular ranking site.

The total sample sizes are all over 1,000, with the gender and age group of participants recorded and controlled. As an Internet survey, it is obviously imperfect, but as such surveys go it is quite a good resource.

They're not the same result though.

Men fear transsexuals the most, followed by bankcrupcy or debt.

Women most fear bancrupcy, debt, unemployment and THEN that it's a transsexual xD

    I find this highly amusing...

A lot of articles which continually repeat that Japanese women seek high paid men, and that they are 'gold diggers' of a sort.

Interesting that women would be less surprised at a sex changed individual.

Gold diggers are especially common in non-US countries. If you got lots of pocket money and can speak english you're as good as laid.

True, but I'm sure none of us on the site are any different.

I must say I find it funny that the survey portrays 'Yankees' and 'Delinquents' as the same thing. Did I learn the wrong definition to each of these words, or do they just despise Americans?

You learned the wrong definition; 'yankees' are a style of delinquents that got quite popular in Japan during the '70/'80s or so iirc.

    True enough. :)

Maybe if more women saw us men as humans worthy of some love instead of as just walking ATM machines, there might be more consideration in return.

I could be wrong.... but maybe, just maybe.....

I love how the men AND the women consider the income in the top 2 of 3 categories. The only difference is that men discriminate against transsexuals more. Goes to show that EVERYONE is superficial.

That's not quite true. While men do find financial _instability_ disturbing, you may want to note that "She is unemployed" is not even on the list. Women on the other hand find only "he is in debt" and "he has mother complex" to be worse than being unemployed.

There is a huge difference between being in financial troubles and being unemployed. It seems that the surveyed women actually expect money from their partners...

^ truth, I was about to comment on how men didn't list employment, but women did. However nobody wants to take on the extra bagage of debt or to cash out for someone they just met. As the Japanese say, "wipe your own ass."

But obviously women expect the man to be employed and working/earning, or at least more than men expect it of women.

It's hilarious how women would be more shocked to hear that you're in debt/unemployed/bankrupt than to hear that you used to be a women.

It seems women will marry anyone, even another woman, just as long as they've got a high income.
