I used XP for many years. But now i upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate i like it better than XP.

I think this might be a bit too critical of windows 7, whilst the actual culprit should be the touchscreen itself.

But considering that the site has written supportive articles on the 360, there's no implication that microsoft is being bashed in anyway.

You'd think they at least do a dummy test backstage before doing it live on T.V. or on live on stage...

This is not Microsoft's or Windows' fault.

It's probably just the capacitive screen. Capacitive (like in the iPhone) means that you cannot use pens or your fingernails, you have to use the tip of your fingers, otherwise it won't react at all.

The only flaw I see is that nobody told them that.

Fingernails don't work well with touchscreens.

What? Dosnt he know you have to use TWO fingers to zoom in or out? Man.... now that's embarassing.

I'll just keep using my XP Pro thanks. People laughed at me when I refused Vista, and I was the one who ended up laughing in the end.

I'll re-evaluate Windows 7 in a year or so, maybe after the first service pack. Right now, My XP Pro is rock solid.

They really should stop advertising the touch screen till they've worked out all the bugs. Focus on Nanami. Imagine nanami showing up on stage. That would be awesome. Or some windows7 sponsored Nana mizuki concert.

I feel kinda bad for him. They really should have tested it more if they were gonna plan a public display like that. Then again, maybe it was pressure sensitive, and he wasn't pressing hard enough or something.

And to be fair, no one expects -any- OS to be perfect off the bat, but at least 7 is damned sight better than vista is/was.

I don't want to spend thousands of dollars of my hard-earned money to join Microsoft's Windows 7 beta testing program.

I recommend that everyone use or at least, try Ubuntu instead. (Can also be tried using a virtualization software in Windows like VirtualBox).

Yeah. I second suggestions should find out whether it's a resistive or capacitive touchscreen and the proper gestures. Technicians might tested it out beforehand, but maybe not the presenter.

LOL ! Fuxking MS did it again. I got a new VAIO in Aug, so they mailed me a free U/G copy of Windows7, but I am not using it simply because of MS's famous history of bugs-full new products, maybe 6 months later. This Vista only giving me minor headaches, so I will bare with it.

I remember a lot of News Networks (MSNBC comes to mind first) used the touch screen EXTREMELY effectively during the 2008 election. Also, though it's a TV show, the new NCIS also has a "touch screen" ( TV magic or real? That's for you to decide) that looks really cool. Hell Saturday Night Live had a spoof that was hilarious about touchscreens!

ANYWAY, it's not THAT BAD of a failure. I think this shows that touch screens aren't as intuitive as we may think they are, and you may need a little practice before going up on a big stage, in front of your peers, to absolutely fail. Things like this happen, but if it's something this important they should have had SOMETHING as a back up plan. I say it's poor planning on the companies part. To me it's obvious that he barely knew what he was doing, but he still shows that it works (when it works).

I'm still getting Windows 7 (free upgrade) and it's better than Vista, and this touchscreen feature will never be used by me in the near future so I'm not convinced to stay with Vista or go back to XP.

I just hate these dumb shows for stuff as intrascendent as a Vista upgrade.

The demo failed because he's using his fingernails. The LCD they are using is probable a "Capacitive Touch Screen", The same one used in Apple's Iphone. Try using your fingernails on the Iphone and see if it would work.

This was user error since the guy was using his finger nails at first which doesn't work and later he wasn't double clicking fast enough. He needed to reduce the double click speed or change to single click mode since he wasn't fast enough.

OS-tan will need something else since this person just doesn't know how to properly use a touchscreen.
