Windows 7 Humiliates MS Japan Boss Live on Stage

windows-7-complete-failure.jpg

Microsoft Japan’s CEO Yasuyuki Higuchi has been humiliated live on stage as Microsoft’s glitzy Akihabara Windows 7 launch event was turned to farce by a failure of the operating system’s glitch prone touchpanel support

Flanked by two spandex clad warriors, Microsoft’s top man in Japan attempted to demonstrate the superiority of Windows 7 to the assembled crowd.

However, from about 3 minutes in Mr Higuchi has evident trouble getting his touchscreen to do anything…

“The light is a bit strong…”

Coming so soon after a complete failure of the system live on Japanese morning TV, this is nothing less than a PR disaster, and a probable personal humiliation to poor Mr Higuchi, who can be seen making a speedy exit, doubtless with the intent of making some very nasty phone calls.

Some are wondering whether they might not wish to stop playing up their evidently useless touchpanel features and instead focus their efforts on the delectable Nanami Madobe, who at least will not malfunction embarrassingly at major marketing events…

Maybe it's some kind of combination of hero shows. They are using Windows 7 as the bad guy.

Have you tried Windows 7 yet? Don't go by the demo, I upgraded to 64bit Ultimate and it is so much better than vista (in my opinion anyway)

I laughed so hard when I first watched this, asking myself "Is it actually a touchscreen?"

I order it like 2 weeks after it was released now that the 22 has passed im waiting his arrival. I want it soooo bad :3.
But though this still bugs me i don't know after i install it it will erase everything from my computer (like a recovery disk) or just simply upgrades it and with all my stuff in it. Any replies will be appreciate ^^

    @AsherXII
Taking a look at the Wikipedia article brings up two relevant tips:
    http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/04/25/pets-for-perverts-schoolgirl-runaways-for-the-taking/
Lists versions of Windows that are possible to upgrade from to what type of Windows 7.
And another note: "Windows Vista Ultimate users wanting to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 must either pay $219.99 to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate or perform a clean install, which requires them to reinstall all of their programs."
So it sorta looks like Microsoft is forcing people who want to do a clean upgrade to pay extra for what shouldn't even be considered an extra feature.

^AsherXII, you have to reboot computer in the dvd drive, into the installation disc, choose custom install and, unfortunately, gets rid of everything.
After you upgrade, you can recover your files in a folder called Windows.old (C/:Windows.old), just take what you need. Unfortunately it still uninstalls all of your programs, so you will have to reinstall.
On 64bit you MUST custom install (puts old files in windows.old), but I'm not sure about 32bit. 32bit RTM doesn't delete anything however, and you can simply upgrade into it.

I do recommend 64bit Windows 7 if your computer will support it, but backup all of your files beforehand. It's MUCH easier to just backup and then transfer files back.

^ AsherXII, not sure about 32bit, but 64bit does uninstall everything and gets rid of your files. Good thing is you can recover them by going into C\:Windows.old, or better yet, just backup your files before installing.
Also it's a pain to install; you must boot the computer into the dvd rather than boot up normally, but if your computer recognizes it immediately, then perfect.

    Anything is better than Vista.
They should have put a Linux box with KDE4 and a windows lookalike theme to avoid this

He's only got himself to blame. If you're going on stage for a media tech demo, you should have tested every aspect of the thing way in advance. In a way, you have to treat it like a stage play, including a final rehearsal with all the actual actors and tech. And there needs to be a backup machine, so there's an immediate fix in case something goes wrong. Otherwise you may end up in the nasty situation that factors out of your control (broken hardware, dim ceo, ...) end up making your tech look bad.

I'm running Windows 7 and it is definitely a vast improvement over Vista. The best Microsoft OS since XP/2003 I think, though far from perfect. The touchscreen support is not something I can directly comment on though.

i have a windows vista tablet HP tx2z; awesome piece of work
what he didnt do before hand was configure the finger shortcuts to his touch
the way he was touching it was stupid
the direction he slid his finger to go next was actually forward but he was already AT the first picture in that folder what a bakada!
as for the double clicking to open that was a lag i'll admit that but never has happened to me once
it is on default i had the same issues at first as well
but now it works flawlessly and even if you have bulky fingers
my tablet comes with it's own stylus pen
photoshop has never been so easy

i mean I liked it already from the beta and RC1, OS-tan just sweetened the deal for me

poor guy, I know they've been working on this touch screen thing for a while, and it just keeps failing at the wrong times
