The Japanese release of Windows 7 has seen OS-tan fans go wild over the highly appealing official Windows 7 mascot Nanami Madobe, who appears in the high resolution and high quality wallpapers included here.
The rest of the theme, including a colour scheme and voicing by top seiyuu Nana Mizuki, was quickly leaked online and is currently enjoying great popularity in what some might suspect was all a well designed piece of viral marketing from the start…

Cant get the theme sounds to work on me, anyone have this problem aswell?
microscum is great in feeding the otaku with all those semi-porn games and of course this latest tactic to sucker in the retarded otaku unaware of the shit they pump out for any form of windows out of the gate.
They do sometimes stabilize like '98 and XP, but of course those arn't the given when thinking about windows and what they do most of the time.
If nothing else comes of this, I'll at least be glad the whole thing brought Nana Mizuki to my attention! She's a damn fine singer.
If you were a proper person, you'd know who Mizuki Nana is by now, no need for some appearance in an OS.
I'm always the last to know these things.
I gotta' give 'em credit for coming up with such a brilliantly clever marketing scheme. Demographic research put to very good use.
This anon approves.
Somebody help me!! my head is filled with pipos and jajaaaaaan!s and jiiin!s and hoto~s...
anyone know where to allocate some of the sounds? Some are obvious some are a bit not so obvious.
the ones like jan or ja jan chin piorin and is there a noise for windows log on?
YES...
she's goes:
AH OKAERI!!!
Do you have any idea where the other sounds go to?
on vista or w7 ? for some reason the sounds(.wav) are not playing on vista even after adding and applying the changes
chin is close program
ja jan is maximize and or open program
jan is minimize
pipo restore is down
piorin is restore up
You can find all the sounds in :
C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\Nanami Th\
just installed it on our win7 laptop and..
Pipo!
chin
jajan
dang. I even put into my Vista desktop already
if only thay had something like that D.A.G. (Digital Assistant Guy)(check out some of Microsoft's prototype technology solutions)
how did you add the sounds to your vista os ?
Another flat chested OS-Tan mascot...yeah...
WinXP had by far the best OS-Tan to date.
So, is it possible to get this theme working on Vista?
If so, how? Google has provided nothing.
yes just set it as a wallpaper
goto personalize > sounds > and then set all the sounds
I'm with him on this one, as there's no reason for me to get Windows 7 yet since Vista SP3 will have DX11 support.
Except that Win 7 has 4587% better RAM management, and feels much more polished too.

I'm using this theme and it is 100% amazing as it seems it would be.
I always wondered why a Japanese company hasn't started pushing their own OS after the failure of Vista?
Considering some of the technology that comes out of Japan upstaging Microsoft should be laughably easy for them.
Simple, making an OS is really difficult.
You can make a Linux based OS. But Fedora, Ubuntu and OpenSuse are really hard to beat.
And you must give 100% compatibility with the applications and games available today.
tl;dr you don't know what you are talking about (no offense)
With that comment you offended the entire Japanese people by saying a bunch of code monkeys in Redmond are more technically skilled
It's not as hard as you think.
Yes it is difficult but it's a lot easier then getting a robot to climb stairs and serve tea Asimo or a robotic tug the HTV to find a space station on it's own.
Not even NASA can do that last one the shuttle needs a pilot.
Can microsoft design the OS for a spacecraft or get a robot to interact with humans no.
In fact windows is ill suited for these tasks and even illegal to use in the case of the HTV because it's not a fault tolerant nor a real time OS.
As for 100% compatibility Microsoft even fails at this between versions.
Cedega a compatibility layer is close to Vista in running XP/2K apps and 9X apps in some cases it's even better.
As for a Japanese os google btron it could have crushed microsoft if they didn't pull some dirty tricks with the trade commission.
This OS still exists as itron and is infact the most installed OS in the world.
It is used in aircraft instruments, car dashes ,engine management computers,DVD players, refrigerators, and cell phones.
The accurate term for the Microsoft's dominance is refereed to as vendor lock-in.
MS has tried to make illegal what it did to gain dominance in the first place which is reverse engineering.
Aka laws like DMCA and efforts to try and prevent reverse engineering of file systems and file types.
Office would have never been popular if it could not open lotus 123 and word perfect documents.
Dos would have never caught on if it wasn't a bastard child of CP/M and the Bourne shell.
What you call *NIX proper term POSIX compliance is what a natural network effect induced standard is.
Same with ASCII and it's later multi lingual compatible descendant unicode.
HTML also would be such a standard and HTML 5 could send flash to history's dust bin which BTW is where it belongs god I hate flash.
The paradigm change that could unseat microsoft has already began in the form of what is known as pervasive computing.
This is your cell phone, game console, and television being able to perform tasks that used to require a standalone computer.
In some cases these embedded devices can actually be more powerful then many desktop computers.
What he is talking about is that it is a damn lot of hard work, and generally not worth it, to create the drivers that would be needed for a new OS to work.
Microsoft has the network effect working for it. It has all those past devices working for it. A new OS would need to cover a large set of drivers just to try to compete in the marketplace.
Then there's the software library available Microsoft. You need to have a significat offering of software--- particularly business oriented software.
These are the factors that protect Microsoft dominance from other OSes. The Network Effect.
*NIX has a chance of overcoming it, because it has been around so long, and it is well established in many business environments.
Apple went OUT of making their own OS, and went to a *NIX based OS (branded Apple, of course) so they could take advantage of the exiting *NIX network.
Eventually, something will knock off Windows, but it will probably due to a major new shift in technology. Somewhere that would minimize or eliminate their network effect.
Old article without sources making absurd claims -> Fail. Better luck next time.
By the way, have you guys noticed that the sound for connecting and disconnecting a device are swapped? I'm pretty sure that "tsunagaru" means connect, and not disconnect.
I like the first wallpaper the most. It's much more usable and less cluttery.
Re: Wallpaper #2
...I wish to be the kitten's paw...
I wish to be the lucky little S.O.G myself
>_> but yeah don't we all Lunar don't we all
When I first heard about Windows 7 I felt little bit interested,
But just waiting case there's some unexpected glitch or something or other like vista did.
Just upgrade, the only problems you can have are hardware related, software is fully compatible.
Well Alrighty then!
thx Anon 4:15 but right now need to save up
only running on $6
you could run the RC till next year if you really wanted to try it =P
and they have the task bar and stuff on deviant art so i can look like i have win 7 with vista
I'd buy it just for thsoe lucious Nanami Madobe themes and Nana Mitzuki voice work 8D She is godly loved her as Oboro
Damn, ALL the wallpapers want the user to buy something.
1st wall: a multitouch screen
2nd: some kind of media remote, tv tuner and asking you to install media center
3rd: well, this one is kinda obvious isn't it?
A nice young lady, her predecessor: a slut of extravagant proportions.
how to run sounds on vista?
Installed W7 this morning and got this theme just now.
Sooo awesome ^^
No Nanami-tan for the English version of Win7? Not even any moe OS-tan?
The closest I can even think of is |V|$ releasing a false-3D sexy bitch avatar instead. V*rtuaG*rl, anyone?
Ha, how come the U.S doesn't get this?
The same reason we dont get tons of anime products. I guess its just not marketable to the masses and lets face it business is all about money.
lol, the best thing about windows 7 is its mascot
That hair pin is totally Shugo Chara material, Amu as Amulet fortune Dx
