Investigation reveals that most demands for bans on adult manga and anime are coming from radical evangelical Christian groups within Japan, yet less than 1% of Japan’s population is Christian.

Some of the groups involved in supporting UNICEF Japan go so far as to publically decry pre-marital sex and homosexuality as moral degeneracy, to say nothing of their opposition to pornography as a whole, a far cry from the pro-child women’s rights agenda they would have the world believe they espouse.

unicef-supporters-include-radical-christian-groups.jpg

UNICEF Japan (independent from, but endorsed by, the UN’s UNICEF) itself admits it receives support from a host of religious extremists, in addition to a variety of feminist groups who perhaps would be aghast at the agenda espoused by some of these mostly evangelical protestant groups:

Japan Christian Women’s Organization (日本キリスト教婦人矯風会)

“The growth in pre-marital sex, adultery, divorce, homosexuality and sex crime threatens to destroy healthy family life and create social chaos.”

Committee to Tackle Prostitution Issues (売買春問題ととりくむ会)

A group formed to ban “sexual exploitation,” whose membership overlaps with the above.

ECPAT / End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism

A network of groups formed to stop the “sexual exploitation” of children, with much of its support and membership coming from churches. The Japanese arm lists the Japan Christian Women’s Organization as one of their supporters.

YMCA Japan / YWCA Japan

“The Young Men’s Christian Associations seek to unite those young men who, regarding Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and Son of GOD, according to the Holy Scriptures, desire to be his disciples in their faith and in their life and to associate their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom amongst young men.”

World Vision Japan

“[Our objective is] to follow our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.”

Soka Gakkai Women’s Peace Committee (創価学会女性平和委員会)

The Soka Gakkai, a large Buddhist cult, notoriously interferes with Japanese politics through its “independent” political party the Koumeito, Japan’s third largest, and generally supports highly moralistic policies.

Big business also likes to support UNICEF Japan for the favourable PR it can yield; conspicuous in the list of supporters are Microsoft and Yahoo, presumably unaware that they are supporting an organisation opposed to freedom of expression together with groups which consider gay rights and even sex out of wedlock to be an abomination…

Of course, the anti-freedom of expression camp’s literal poster child Agnes Chan is herself a Chinese Catholic who now badgers Japan’s elected politicians into abrogating the Japanese constitution to appease extremist churches.

Some of the groups listed possess an extremely radical agenda; for example the 130 year old Japan Christian Women’s Organization (in Japanese they call themselves a “moral reform” organisation) boasts about being behind Japan’s 1956 Prostitution Prevention Law.

However, this group is a radical Christian moralist group as one of their own published proclamations clearly demonstrates:

A Statement on the Morals of Sex and Marriage:

The growth in pre-marital sex, adultery, divorce, homosexuality and sex crime threatens to destroy healthy family life and create social chaos.

We are aghast at this, particularly with regards to pre-marital sex. We wish for a healthy Japanese society.

Evidently, for many of these groups a ban on “loli” is merely a way of attacking the softest available target.

Their real objective is nothing less than Christian theocracy, with bans on pre-marital sex, prostitution, pornography and homosexuality all fantasised about even as they exploit the credulity of politicians and the mass media about threats to children.

Dropping out is fine too. I went to a Christian school for about 11 years in my childhood. Never really bought into it. Same with my parents. As soon as I graduated I could stop with facade.

Must be some other religion there in Japan.

    Yahweh agrees with Mo.

That's pretty inconsistent, right? With religion being so open to interpretation, it's not like you can prove/disprove that a particular version is the "true" faith. I'm not sure you can do that with any faith, really ~ from each point of view the other view is a stain to the former, y'know?

Regardless, Jesus is "one" with god that kills little babies to show off, demanded the sacrifice of animals to "appease" himself and ordered you to kill witches, homosexuals and rude kids.

Christ didn't even disavow that he was like "Oh don't fuck them now, "me my daddy" am going to fuck then for all eternity latter"

Ok brosef, I never said Jesus commanded his followers to hunt Wizards, but God certainly did. Ironic, isn't it?
I'm also not hearing you deny that Exodus and plenty other parts of the Bible that are bloody, savage, and just plain ridiculous.
Want another example? How about the obvious brutal murder of Jephthah's daughter in Judges 11?

And, I hate to break it to you, but saying the Old Testament is no longer valid because Jesus died for our sins is such a huge fucking cop-out. If the Bible is supposed to be the "one true word of God" how can it contain all of the bogus, inaccurate, or no longer applicable information that it does?

As a moral guide or source for "truth" the Bible utterly fails (Pi is a round number?). It's not even that great of a book if purely taken as a work of literature. I'd rather read Lord of the Rings.

The only honest conclusion is that the Bible was written by ignorant bigoted savages who knew nothing about how the world around them actually works.

LOL. There are hundreds, if not thousands of types of Christianity. Those who claim only christians "hunted witches" and the sacrificial lamb ceremony...do you even understand the basis of the religion to criticize it? No? Ah...I see.

Because the way humans interpret the same material is infinitely different, obviously youre gonna get some christians who read the bible who fully support a new crusade on the non believer and other christians who will keep to themselves.

Preach less anonymous unless you can seriously support arguments against religion with hard, proven facts that dont include the corruption of man and mind.

    Kortaku...

There may be hundreds of types, and thousands of regional churches, but what's your point other than a veiled argument from authority. Of course Christianity wasn't the only religion to promote ritual sacrifice, but I don't see how that changes anything.

Also, what do you mean by "corruption of man and mind"? I think what you're getting at is that I can't use bloody conflict in the name of religion as an example of how religion does harm to society because their minds have been somehow corrupt by earthly desires...Am I right? On that same line of thinking, what about all of the minds corrupted by taking the words of the Bible literally? A good example of how religion poisons everything is how it shuns proper intellectual development and education, instead preferring indoctrination and blind obedience. One need not look much further than 51% of Americans rejecting Evolution and believing that humans were specially created in present form...DESPITE the inescapable truth that Evolution is a fact and forms the basis of all modern biology and genetic research.

To throw this back at you, let me quote Chris Hitchens, "Name me an ethical statement made or an action performed by a believer that could not have been made or performed by a non-believer."

The bible is best to be viewed as a written epic, in the same ranks as the Odyssey, Gilgamesh, and The Divine Comedey etc. Rather than a real document that is to be taken at face-value on every single word. That would almost seem like someone saying that Greek gods are what we should be worshipping because of the Odyssey... Which is obviously just amazing proof of the existance of the greek gods, since thats exactly what you're saying with the bible... What? its been proven that Jesus was a real person? and he actually did a few things? So was Gilgamesh. Does that mean that we can all go find wise old men who took part in an archetypal flood to revive our dead friends? No. It doesn't.

And this is why I hate having to live in a Christian household with a person denying evolution one minute yet being completely engrossed in the Science/History/National Geographic channel the next... O__O

Chalk it up to being a better writer than generations of Jewish scholars of varying temperaments, but:

Homer never actually says you should worship the gods, just that they're incredibly volatile and fickle, and you're pretty much fucked if you don't.

The odyssey, in particular, seems to suggest that being resourceful >
    being religious.

The pope and his minions are all hypocritical refuse of the Earth. I would not be surprised if it was found out they worship Satan when their day's work of destroying people's lives are done.

Not a single one of those "religious leaders" practice anything they espouse. They tell everyone to live in frugality and pray for forgiveness on their knees from their palaces and mansions. The archbishop of Canterbury has two palaces, no less.

Then you have the issue with condoms where contraceptives are forbidden to the point where people's lives are put into danger from diseases like HIV. A stance the church refuses to change even when contraceptives are not addressed at all by the Bible. At this point it's pure pride at the expense of the lives of men, women and children.

To drive the point further home, anywhere from 25% to 50% of pregnacies never make it to live birth, ending in miscarriages. So whatever the church claims about the "evils" of contraception, god takes it one step further.

Lastly, the pedophilia scandal... ex-prez Bush giving the pop immunity from molestation charges. I think that pretty much sums up the whole thing.

Damn, so much more I could go on... Yeah, so you Catholics better listen to the pope or you may end up as a moral, civil human being. This pretty much also applies to any form of organized religion.

If you were an atheist, at least you'd be on the winning side for a change. Face facts, Christianity is a death cult--nothing new happens, nothing can be added to the Bible, you are just circling the drain and waiting to die. There is no future to look forward to under Christianity, just an inevitable march to death with nothing in-between of value to be added to anyone's lives.

Really, it's best to walk away and look at it without the eyes of the dead.

Did you drink something to make you that retarded or were your born that way? Eyes of the dead? Oh yes, because Atheism is all about hope and promise for things to come.

Enjoy your life after death and 70 virgins. Opps! My bad, that is Islam. I meant, I hope your rotting body feeds many worms and your passing is slow. Life is nothing but an accident and there is nothing after it.

So do you believe in Christianity just because heaven sounds better than nothingness? Seems awfully naive to accept a belief on the basis of its appeal, rather than its actual merit.

I mean, just because you believe you'll go to heaven doesn't mean you're not also going to be worm food. The atheist just isn't in denial about it.

So is it proven that there is no afterlife? So just because there is a movement of modern science that is somewhat tending to be against religion, you will blindly follow it? Is that really different from religion? Is modern science infallible? Ah...foolish atheists who criticize religion and foolish religion theists who criticize atheism. Believe what you want, dont be an ass about it.

Lol, if you really think theres nothing after this life, damn, thats a pretty bleak existence.....

Study religion for a few good decades in its entirety and then choose your beliefs and/or atheism. Too many < 25 year olds who know nothing of what they dont believe in...ZzZ

    @Kortaku, 12:52

This is where Occam's Razor comes in. Generally, the most straightforward explanation is the most likely. In this case, that when people appear to die and rot, that they actually /do/ die and rot. If you want to introduce hideously more complex/complicated explanations involving conspiracy-theory-esque secretive superintelligences and a whole invisible kingdom of an afterlife filled with human minds, the burden of proof/significant evidence for that is on _you_.

If nothing else, observation of the effects of brain damage (to various parts of the human brain with the respective results) on the human mind is support enough for the perception that the human mind is damaged, ages and dies along with the brain[ it runs on].

Occam's Razor is a joke. The simplest explanations for things throughout history have almost always been wrong - "the sun revolves around the earth", "the heart controls the body", etc. Some things just inherently have COMPLEX explanations to them, including evolution, genetics, biology, quantum physics, etc.

Why people ever bring up Occam's Razor just baffle's me.

    Comment by Anonymous
    21:16 11/10/2009 # ! Neutral (0)

It's not that Occam's Razor is wrong - people just keep applying it incorrectly.

Occam's Razor doesn't say that "the simpler of two theories is usually correct." That's a misconception a lot of atheists go by.

What it says is more along the lines of "the simpler of two competing and observably correct theories is preferable."

There's a huge difference there, the two theories have to be already known to be correct and usually they're observably similar in description. What Occam's Razor really tries to do is to reduce the number of assumptions in an explanation to it's simplest form, NOT to say that the simplest explanation is the correct one (especially when the simplest explanation is observably NOT correct).

Except that atheism follows the idea that observable and provable evidence is far more likely to hold true than a 2000 years old book that has been rewritten time after time during the early history of Christianity.

We have mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, archeology, paleontology and a lot more. What makes your holy book more creditable?

Even if science has it's holes, scientists make claims based on prior knowledge. There is no single fact in science that isn't based on something that was previously proven. There are some ridiculous theories (hello, dark matter), but so far, the scientific method gave us electricity, atomic energy, flight, polymers, medicine, computers etc...

The bottom line, is that there is no difference between blind belief and delusion, unless you have the proof.

If you are an athiest, you believe that reality is what an individual makes of it, and that it is not controlled by supernatural factors.

Thus, if a person defines his reality by having a God, then God exists in his reality, until the moment of his death, when his mind is unable to function.
Even if it is his personal reality, science says, "I think, therefore I exist." So if your existence is defined by your thought, then logically to someone who believes in God He is as real as anything, because the world is an illusion generated by the mind.

God existing for him is as true as God not existing for you. In the end, 80 years is too short for anyone to prove anything. Whether you believe in God or nothing, you still die, so what makes Athiests so superior?

If you are happy while alive is what matters. Being a happy Christian beats a sulky Athiest anyday.

And Christian =/= Disbelief in Science. Your statements make it seem that all Athiests have a PhD or something.

Really, science is not a faith, it is logic.
Christianity inversely, is faith, not logic.
Logic doesn't clash with faith, because logic is what can be seen and proven true or false, and faith is what cannot be seen, but is believed.

Same here. I mean, seriously... To solve a problem, it's best to nip it in the bud. And the main cause is due to globalisation and cultures worldwide becoming more homogeneous. Western influences which is generally more open mixes with Japanese culture, just like how Japanese culure mixes in and influences other countries. Imo, it's completely impossible and ridiculous to call for a ban that results from something that most of the world is undergoing - globalisation.

Besides, I always like to bring up this point. Japan is such a small country (compared to the other places like America, Europe and so on). Those countries have so much more "morally wrong" materials online. Namely pornography, which - logically speaking - is a lot more "damaging" than fictional products. Girls are getting raped everyday in more places than one. REAL children are being sold and exploited. Instead of increasing their proficiency to waste time, these feminists, as well as Christian extremists should seriously consider doing something to help REAL children.

I bet half the kids exploited in Africa or somewhere would rather kill themselves than wait for aid when they read Sankaku and find out that the world prioritises FICTIONAL GIRLS, instead of them who are REAL, 100% organic, with flesh and blood, and more importantly, emotions and rights.
