Top 10 Summer 2009 Anime, According to Dengeki

Dengeki readers were surveyed as to which anime they thought the best of summer 2009, yielding results which in retrospect are not entirely surprising.
However, when their most anticipated summer anime are compared to the most well received after the fact, the results are quite interesting…
Firstly, these are the most anticipated series prior to the start of the summer season:
1. Spice and Wolf II
2. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
3. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
4. Bakemonogatari
5. Canaan
6. Taisho Yakyuu Musume
7. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class

And these are the most highly rated after the finish of the season:

Dengeki readers will not be winning any awards for punditry it seems; 5 of the anime remained in the list, but all the top spots were upsets and a number of the most anticipated sunk without trace…

That show was a tree huggers delight and fortunately, those 'tards are the greatests of minority in Japan. Sadly, many in the upper echelons of Gonzo are dedicated splinter huggin' morons. Another good reason for it sagging profits...
Also, why the Fuck would a Man change his figure into a sultry wench but still keep his Voice unchanged? A true gender confused retard was that character. The only thing it had was a great character designer and some nice animation that didn't have the story strong enough to carry them.

Saki & Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 was the only two from the list I even bothered with . . .

'Magnitude 8.0' almost lost me near the end with setups of a wandering plot hole that I just couldn't get over with in the middle.
But all my rantings about those "holes" where gleefully proven wrong and the ending was truly amazing. That short tv show actually had the Balls to upset the applecart and I loved it all for it!

Very suprising. At the start of the season I don't think anyone would have expected Bakemonogatari to be first in sales, first on 2ch and first in nearly all polls in Japan.
I guess Senjougahara tore came into fashion after all.

Phantom made it to the list. That's good. But in place of Saki it should be Spice and Wolf II. Saki is not much of a good anime.
Saki has moe in spades. It is the epitome of moe anime because mahjong is not going to keep anything afloat on its own.

Comparing Saki and Akagi, I believe Saki is more of a Mahjong anime than Akagi.
I didn't realize Akagi wasn't about mahjong. I guess I should watch Saki then to see some real mahjong playing.
Akagi is about the mahjong, yakuza and manipulating the hell out of your opponents.
Akagi is NOT about moe.
But Akagi is still damn moe.
still can't believe Umineko is still up there... the way DEEN fucked it up I'm surprised fans still actually put up with the anime version. in all honesty tho, it should've been like the drama cds.
at least the main story is there unlike a certain series with initial VC that the studio fucked up like it's a high budget doujin set with different cast altogether.
