Dengeki readers were surveyed as to which anime they thought the best of summer 2009, yielding results which in retrospect are not entirely surprising.
However, when their most anticipated summer anime are compared to the most well received after the fact, the results are quite interesting…
Firstly, these are the most anticipated series prior to the start of the summer season:
1. Spice and Wolf II
2. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
3. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
4. Bakemonogatari
5. Canaan
6. Taisho Yakyuu Musume
7. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class
8. Kanamemo
9. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
10. Umimonogatari
And these are the most highly rated after the finish of the season:
1. Bakemonogatari
2. Saki
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
4. Canaan
5. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
6. Valkyria Chronicles
8. Dragonball KAI
9. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
10. Requiem for the Phantom
Dengeki readers will not be winning any awards for punditry it seems; 5 of the anime remained in the list, but all the top spots were upsets and a number of the most anticipated sunk without trace…
See also the 2ch ranking.
I guess I should go see the first Spice and Wolf… looks like FMA blew s♥♥t out of the water. Besides that only saw FMA. DBZ Kai shouldn’t even count, ugh. the rest of these… *adds to list*
Wow Cannan beat out Phantom?
Twice?
Insane.
Unforgivable.
I have to agreed with you…..
Phantom was pretty good , and i also like to see Umineko in there . BUT!!! CAL!!!!!! WHYYYYYYYY T-T DAMN YOU REIJI!!!! ( Off course I’m talking about phantom) :3
Number 7 was so good that it was put on it’s own separate list.
indeed LOL
125 comments and not a single person has asked where #7 on the second Dengeki list is? Wow, how observant we are.
I find this post highly ironic.
Saki sucked
