Imouto “Keys to Happiness”

Researchers have declared imouto to be a key to happiness after finding that people who grew up with sisters were significantly more likely to be happy.
University of Ulster psychologists surveyed 571 people aged 17 to 25 in detail about their family life, and found a significant positive influence when a person had a sister, with such individuals tending to be happier.
The professor in charge of the study suggests sisters exert a cohesive effect on families, whilst brothers tend to be divisive:
“Sisters appear to encourage more open communication and cohesion in families.
However, brothers seemed to have the alternative effect.
Emotional expression is fundamental to good psychological health and having sisters promotes this in families.”
He suggests families full of unruly otouto may be in trouble:
“We may have to think carefully about the way we deal with families with lots of boys.”

First of all, those researchers are stupid enough to declared that. Secondly, that 571 people is not enough to assume that everyone would be happy if they have sister. Finally, they are making a hasty generalization

This is most likely a valid statistic using a normal number as a population for the research.
Of course it's a generalization, did you expect them to ask every freaking person on earth?!
And of course it won't apply to everyone, it just means that a relative majority of people will feel the effect!

you say that cause you never had little sisters. The ones who actually do have sisters know the truth behind having a little sisters. Around 80 percent of those who have little sisters are actually tormented by them, and the small 20 percent are blessed with the "nice cute" little sisters. For me, I don't know if I'm lucky or not cause I have one of both... The older one of the little sister is quite attacking in manner, while the latter younger one is a cute little walking gumball. I favor the latter little sis more lol.

I am a scholar and this survey is no way representative of a group of population and thus its results cannot be generalized. I am also very skeptical in the way they conducted their research.
They are presenting their results to their chums at a scholarly conference, so I doubt their methodology is quite so easy to brush aside.
I am still very skeptical of this, until more researchers duplicates this with other various research methods and different protocols, then I would consider.
This is only a correlation, it does not mean causation, there may be a number of countless variables not being considered.
Also this does not change the fact that this is just a number they have discovered, it doesn't tell anything, really.
I am a scientist myself and I am not sure if this study is really credulous. How do they obtain a baseline(the amount of happiness without a sister)? And depends on how they choose their participants there will be sampling bias. A sampling size of 571 out of 60 billion people is hardly significant.

Any person with high school math should know that they need a very big sample of people from all walks of life to even form a basic theory.
Anything else is pure speculation.
When examining family relations this is especially important, since how families treat each other is very dependent on cultural influence which can be very different from region to region and from social class to social class.
A sample of 600 people is way too small to make any assumptions.
Are you in general despair or in despair with your relationship with them?
I don't think the research states that these people are happy with the relationship with their little sister but that at some point later life these people are happier than someone who didn't have a one.
I have an imouto and didn't really get along with her too well or at least it wasn't no anime. lol
