Japan’s previously introduced bishoujo android HRP-4C has been given the all but inevitable Hatsune Miku cosplay makeover and then made to sing hit Miku song “Melt”; the results can be seen below:
The unit is able to robotically shuffle about “like a fashion model”, but likely cannot manage any convincing dance moves, explaining the static nature of the performance.
All in good time…

Nice Forbidden Vally you've got there, I am officially creeped out.
Uncanny valley is uncanny...
This.
If they really want to make the pilgrimage out of that valley, they ought to learn something from these Dancing Japanese Robots [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZzLAsHiGHU] and the 2D-to-3D artistic conversion stylings of the recently featured artist Kanzeon.
That way the robot would have:
1) Nearly perfect human-like movement capacity
2) A much more passable physical appearance
So long as they followed the above linked prototypes.
Then all that scarecrow would be missing is a brain and a Doctorate in Thinkology [http://www.great-quotes.com/cgi-bin/viewquotes.cgi?action=search&orderby=&Movie=The Wizard of Oz&startlist=90]...
Sir ~
I am (always) intrigued by your explanations and ideas.. concerning said subjects concerning Robots.
I agree with you on all points.
I think that (soon/near future) that the evolution and improvements of such machinery will surpass human and we will not be able to know/tell the difference between them.
Its only a matter of time...
I said this (also) when I watched CG taking off, that CG would replace actors in films and commercials.
~ and it has already happened.
THAT'S HELLA CREEPY!!!!!!!!!
3d robot <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 2d version
Hatsune has been raped of her moe !
GIVE IT BACK ! GIVE US BACK THE MOE MIKU !!! T~T
She looks creepy... and kinda fat O_o
If you can afford a robot, you should be able to afford a camera tripod. Or at least another robot to hold the camera steady.
The Sexaroids are coming... ^_^
They should model these robots on the shapes of real seiyuu so that they don't look so creepy.
...really, really, REALLY creepy.
For a moment i thought that was cosplay actually. Dear God. Seriously, if you're creating a Miku atleast make it cuter. Lack of moe

they should just just use hachune miku doing levan polka song instead...
instead of going for realism. use cute and simple movements will do
*Uncanny Valley

ta raro el invento ... pero al menos van progresando ... (un poco mas de figura y carisma y yatta!!!!)
Holy mother of do not want!
just move the head?
this is just nasty
AND SO IT BEGINS
the high pitched voices are hurting my ears
now i'm really want to say this..
"3D pigs disgusting!!!"
Slightly creepy but i enjoyed it
Creepy indeed..... >_< Huhuh....
i liked Hatsune Miku.. until they made this.
If I've never seen Hatsune Miku before on nico, I'd probably say she looks pretty good for a robot. The face looks pretty human-like too.
Sadly, I'm spoiled by seeing the anime version. So this robot I'm seeing here looks fugly. They should of made the face way more anime-like.
+1
she only needs to say 2 things: onichan and ikuuuuuuu, so this is a waste
i though it was a fat chick...
Don't worry. The compact model will soon be made!
Me too! Her "cheeks" look bulky.
scary o_O
That's.... not really the Miku... that I imagined.
Makes me sad... -;_;
i think i would like to c the interview more than hearing the song...
a dutch wife with a cd player stuffed inside can do better!
that remind me of gintama 'fenis monja'. Tama can do it better
interesting.
Also Hatsune Miku Cosplay Robot Sings “Melt”
I kinda thought people melted from her song :D
Pinhead
Is that you Bill O'Reilly?
Her face just downright scares me...
This would be how chobits began: as creepy bottish dolls.
The mouth only moves up and down... no quirks or other movements...
The future = something more human like.
For everyone's anime-history betterment, Chobits [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chobits] actually began with Angelic Layer [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelic_Layer], but I still see your point.
From the Chobits wiki: "The manga is set in the same universe as Angelic Layer, taking place a few years after the events of that story, and like Angelic Layer, it explores the relationship between humans and electronic devices shaped like humans."
Now we are all one step closer to having our very own persocom. Mark my words one day Japan will be making them, and they better not but the damn reset button in the vagina. It will be a glorious day indeed.
I just hope they don't ban the loli models.
Don't worry, there still would be loli models, in the black market ;)
...
OTL
Im scared... but being this the future... i think than maybe we will see really fapable bots at least on my life time.
I will not mind to be treated by a army of nurse-bots when i grew older.
I think it would actually be more feasible to convert people into 2D representations rather than make 3D manifestations of non-humans. Think of that latest Bruce Willis movie ‘Surrogates’. A 2D avatar of myself projected into virtual animespace having sex hentai-style with other 2D characters is probably far more doable (and fappable imho), if it weren’t for the fact that the non-anime-loving mainstream seems to look down on 2D in favor of 3D despite all the pathetic attempts made to overcome the uncanny valley.
I would recommend Dennō Coil [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denno_Coil]-esque computerized glasses for this.
We could program such glasses to re-draw everything they see in the visual field as an anime-styled utopia.
That would:
1) Reduce the social inhibitions of 2D-cons
2) Make everyone around you instantly beautiful. Even you, if you're not satisfied with your real appearance and others had on such glasses as well.
3) Give basement Otaku an excuse to go out and get real lives, find significant others, etc.
I've been envisioning anime conventions years from now, with everyone wearing such glasses...
Is this the future of cosplay?
Reality version 1.5 ?
After sufficient consideration... that's absolutely genius.
augmented reality for the duration of a con or tradeshow.
Want!
Do no wanna! I find amusing to make fun of fat cosplayers at anime cons. That's actually the only reason I go to those events this days...
that would give beer goggles a whole new meaning...
